ParticipantI don’t celebrate St Patricks day, but I do drink Guinness because it makes me look hard.

Participant30th is looking like the Saturday to meet up.
Turks, where are you travelling from? I’m sure the cockney contingent will be able to help get you there. Maybe when we’ve got a better idea of numbers we can start sorting out cheap travel too.

ParticipantTurks you Bloody Pikey. Youth hostels might be alright for you ‘yoofs’ but I have a certain standard to maintain, like a park bench or an all night toilet.
I’m gonna open a new thread concerning having the meet up in June and which date would be best.

ParticipantNice tune.
Glad that freaky looking doll hooked up with that dumpy one in the end.

EA FTW! WANKS over ARMA.
Ewww…
Max why were you wanking over ArmA?
Anyway re: punkbuster
Make sure that the XP, 2000 or Vista account you’re using has administrator rights. For some reason it won’t work with guest priviledges 😕

ParticipantMcQueen’s your man if you’re considering a watercooled system, but here’s a few bits you might want to consider if you want to use fans. If you do go the fans route, you’ll need a case capable of accepting 120mm fans (‘cos you can slow them down and make them much quieter and still get air flow).
Coolermaster Mystique 631 Black Aluminum Case £68
485W Enermax Noisetaker £59 – Nothing particularly special PSU wise, but damn these things are quiet! I have one in my media PC.
Scythe Miné Quiet Heatpipe CPU Cooler £25 – Effectively a fanless CPU cooler.
Scythe Hard Disk Stabiliser II £6 – Fairly cheap, but you’d be suprised how much noise is generated through HDD vibration.
512MB XFX 7950GT XXX £195 – Ooh! Bit of controversy, but until PowerColour release their silently cooled X1950XT, this is the best silent option.
Zalman FAN MATE 2 Fan controller £3 – You’ll need a few of these to quieten your fans down, or one of these:
Zalman ZM-MFC1 Blue Termal/Fan Controller £19
If you want to go as near silent as you can with an air cooled case, you’ll need lots of fans, just turned down very low so that you’ll have the air flow, but without the noise. Regarding which CPU and Mobo you should get, that’s down to personal choice, but the Core 2 Duo seems like your best bet right now, along with any passively cooled motherboard.

ParticipantExcellent series, by the same people who made Cowboy Beebop.

ParticipantGlad you’re okay Mouse, and I hope those tank boys can drive better than Pharty as well. There was this time on Karkland you see when…
We’re hopefully going to try for a piss up on the 26th of May (in case you’re back in time), but there’ll be other times if you can’t make that. We’ll being going to Nottingham though, so you’re probably safer where you are 😉
And I think I’ll end this post with a sentence that rhymes:
Take care out there.

ParticipantYou could always nick your housemate’s drug stash and then sell it back to him at double the price…

ParticipantSaturday 26th May
I reckons that this’d be a good date to put into yer diaries. Weather should be alright and it hopefully won’t clash with too many family hols. Once we get an idea of numbers etc, we can start sorting out places to stay (obviously Lensman will only be able to put up 7 or 8 of us for the night 😉 ).
The gun crime aspect may be a problem, but hopefully if we can get Badger to come along too he could always bring some grenade launchers and assault rifles for us to use.
Let’s wait and see about Paintballing etc until we have a better idea of numbers and a confirmed venue (although I think Nottingham or Birmingham would be pretty good).
Plus, do we open it up to non-XDC’ers too?

ParticipantNottingham was one of the locations that I thought might be good from a geograhical point of view, but also because SOIA once said that there are some “right dirty slags” who frequent Nottingham’s bars. The other option is to all stay over at Wolf’s place.
I was thinking about suggesting a date for the meet such as the end of May, just before the kid’s hols start, so as not too clash with family holidays.

ParticipantWipers, me mobo is an AS Rock VSTA VIA PT880 Ultra, running Intel Intel Pentium D 820.

ParticipantSaw episode 5 last night (the one where the politician guy flys for the first time). It’s really starting to pick up pace now and it is getting better and better.
However it’s still not perfect. A high speed crash in a Pontiac into a wall would surely have ripped all the clothes off whichever cheerleader was driving the car. Again, the writers have let us down.

ParticipantArmA?
It’s slang for Amazulu, a popular (almost) all girl ska and new wave band from the 1980’s, whose hits included; Too Good to Be Forgotten, Don’t You Just Know it and Exciteable. Here’s one of their albums:

So who wants to kick off the Amazulu chat?
