ParticipantMoving to Berhamsted btw… Then Neon and I can be best fwiends!
WTF?!?!?!
Since when are you allowed to move to Berkhamsted? I’ll be speaking to the town elders about this me-laddo.
I’d start looking for an HD TV (and a new town that isn’t Berkhamsted to live in) around February.

ParticipantThis is a game from the same people who brought us the PC games System Shock and System Shock 2. Both excellent games, but I must say that the sequel is the scariest and one of the best FPS/RPG games I’ve ever played.
If this new game turns out to be be as good as that then it’ll be awesome.

I just trained my dick to type, and have all the keys lubed up and covered in velvet. I take care of 2 birds with one stone, and still have two hands, one to eat, one to smoke with, while i’m doing it!
No wonder your typing’s so wank!

ParticipantI’m sorry to disagree with most people here (well not really that sorry) but I think Torchwood is pretty awful. Having said that I watch it with the wife and just take the piss out of it (and she’s coming around to my way of thinking, dammnit!). Here’s what you can expect each week in Torchwood, which you could use as a basis for a drinking game although I fear you may get liver failure if you do:
1 – Captain Jack walking quickly down a corridor, flanked by the rest of the team as he gives commands with some urgency.
2 – Gwen having to make an emmotional decision between doing what’s right for her concience or right for Torchwood.
3 – A gay scene
4 – The team pointing guns at people and looking more scared than the person they’re pointing them at.
5 – Plot holes the size of Switzerland
6 – People saying “The darkness is coming” or “It’s coming out of the darkness”
7 – A Cardiff with virtually no Welsh people
8 – Finding out some even more ‘mysterious’ stuff about Captain Jack (who incidentally was calling himself Captain Jack before the Cardiff blitz according to the Dr Who episode when we first meet him).
Also, in the episode where Captain Jack met Captain Jack and had a dance and a little kiss, back in 1941 homosexuality was a crime, so he’d probably have been thrown out of the airforce at the very least.
*Note to Wolf and Insane: If either of you get thrown back in time prior to 1967, don’t snog another man in broad daylight or you may face going to prison.
God, I’m becoming a right miserable git, and a bit of a pedant too.
Anyway, I brought the old BBC TV series ‘Day of the Triffids’ and watched it over Xmas and it was ace. Good, solid drama (with ropey effects) with a great cast.

ParticipantMy mate Barry has a massive set of muttons and a gringo ‘tashe and he looks pretty cool.
With his black, square framed glasses on he looks like he works at a web design company, the kind with a pool table in the middle of the office. Without the glasses, he looks like he should be shouting “Front rank! FIRE!” as Zulu’s storm the barricades.
And as we all know, women love men who work in design studios or shoot Zulus*.
* Strangely, women I’ve known also like men who would shoot the 60’s pop sensation Lulu.

ParticipantHave a good one too mate.
Just remember to never ask for directions in Wales, unless you want to get covered in phlegm:
“Now let me see, to get too LLANFIHANGEL-NANT-MELAN you’ll need to drive past LLANTRIDDYD on the outskirts of LLANDEFAELOG, not LLANDDWROR or LLANBLETHIAN, which a mistake a lot of you Englishmen make. Then go straight on past LLANYBYTHER until you reach LLANSADURNEN and then go right, through LLANIDLOES and then it’s your first left after LLANRHYSTUD. You can’t miss it.”

So yeah when using them? I aim at something, right click to get the distance, then adjust up and down with the mouse wheel depending on where I’m aiming from the point I’ve zoomed in on.
That might help? (But will probably far more likely confuse and complicate)
Oh and the shottie I found to be such a pile of crap. 3 shots?? I might need to give it another go but found it easier to switch to the pistol instead.
(back at work ๐ )
YAWNAhh, so (as the kung fu master said) you have to right click to get the range and THEN you use the mouse wheel to adjust the range. Now, all becomes clear. No wonder my bloody rockets have been flying across the maps into infinity.
Re: Herzog Shotgun. Great on Titans for that extra ammo to take out consoles, but in narrow streets, I select the shotgun as my primary weapon and then one mouseclick and I’m back to the Voss ands ready to shoot. Trying to select the Herzog in a middle of a CQB is a nightmare, but this way works for me.

ParticipantTo be honest, if you already have a decent PC, enough spare components to build a media PC and some kind of network switch, then you might as well just map to the hard drive on your main machine and play off that when you want to. Might not work so well with Hi Def movies, but it’s ideal for MP3’s or DivX films.
The most important thing though (IMO) is to make your media PC as quiet as possible. But for those of you with wives/girlfriends then you’ll eventually need to buy a decent looking case too, especially if it’s to go in a living room that looks like it came from the Ikea catalog. This might not be appreciated:

Here’s a good one if you’re on a budget:

You can buy passive CPU coolers these days as well as fanless PSU’s (although thses aren’t supposed to be that great). Instead, get one of these:

Not the best on the market, but pretty darned quiet and cheap.
A few other tips to keep the noise down are:
1) Use elastic to suspend your HDD’s so that no vibration is transferred to the case.
2) If you’re putting the PC in an audio cabinet, put lumps of blu-tac under each foot of the case. Again, this helps stop the vibrations being transmitted.
3) As most PSU exhausts face backwards, you can dampen the sound slightly by putting a thick piece of foam between it and the wall.

Possibly, but Max’s gaming prowess is greatly enhanced by his lucky bra and garter. Unless the Doc fancies going tranny on us everytime he’s online I think he should get a mouse.
Unless he’s just playing ‘Missile Command’ that is…

Participant@TurksMeister wrote:
How much did your kit come to Mr Neon?… including trouser elastic?!
Hard to say exactly how much was spent, as most of it was cobbled together from old PC parts. The only pieces I specifically brought for it was a low powered and very quiet PSU, the Zalman CPU cooler and the case. The trouser elastic I stole from my mum’s sewing box! The bits I brought probably cost about รฦรโรยขรขโยฌร ยกรฦรขโฌลกรโรยฃ180 in total.
I’d probably use the same approach yourself since I’d only really spend decent money on your main PC (unless you’re a billionaire like Pharty). Also you might not really use it that much anyway. If you are serious about building one then I’d probably upgrade your main PC and use the leftovers to build a media PC, then over time replace the noisy components and get a new case.
