ParticipantIf he REALLLY wants the update to this mediocre game, I’ll happily download the patch, burn it to disk and send it him.
Alternatively, wait for the 2nd (or 3rd) coming next week. 😀

ParticipantShamelessly copied and pasted from another forum, but some interesting points in there.
Zh1nt0 (head community manager for Battlefield 3) sat down with the German Battlefield community to discuss questions concerning the beta. A lot of valuable information was revealed during the conversation. You can read all of it below.
Battlefield 3 Beta:
* The beta will not start at midnight or 00:00 GMT
* The download size will be 2 – 3gb
* Those who had the alpha must download the beta client, the alpha client can not be updated.
* No game rank limit during beta (go all the way to 50!)
* Pre-load information coming soon
* The beta was not delayedBattlefield 3 General:
* The netcode is completely new and rewritten
* Players can not join a squad if their team is full (to prevent Battlelog groups from getting split)
* Vehicles will begin to heal themselves after 10 – 15 seconds (this is a server setting)
* Vehicles will only begin to regenerate if their health is under 75%
* Unlocks are class restrictive, can’t put a sniper scope on a support gun
* Operation Metro has been better balanced
* Two knife animations (behind and on the ground)
* A knife attack on your player can not be countered
* Throwing a grenade will still prompt enemy players to yell (Bad Company 2 similar)
* Hand grenades can not be held to make the detonation time quicker (known as cooking)
* You can join a server that a friend is on via Origin
* Friendly Fire is set to “on” by default. It can be turned off in the server settings
* Caspian Border is not the biggest map
* Jets do not have bombs (wtf?)
* If you are kicked from a server, Battlelog will prompt you with the reason (ping, server settings, or server admin reasoning)
* A ranked server can be turned into an unranked server (for practice, etc.)
* No weather or time change during a multiplayer game
* e-sports are the focus of Battlefield 3
* No word on Battlerecorder/Game recorderMisc. Battlefield 3 Information:
* You can use three screens with the game
* Next 1 – 3 weeks will bring more information about maps
* Battlelog application for iPhone/iOS (free). No word on Android.
* Battlelog is updated separately to allow game updating to be a bit more flawless
* More community events in the works (some happening here on enterbf3!)
* Mod tools are still a possibility
* Two nVidia GTX 580’s can run the game on ultra
* Battlefield 3 may be available on the Xbox marketplace
* Some 300 employees at DICEno bombs on jets?
Looks like you’re gonna have to crossfire that 6950 badboy you’re thinking of buying Maxwell.

Participantmust say, I’m a little disappointed in the limited choice of gametype and map. Pretty crap that it’s ending 2 weeks before the full game is available, would it have killed them to leave it up until launch date?
Beer_Monster
Participantyeah, everyone is slagging EA/Dice…….but it’s ok, Max still loves you 😆
Beer_Monster
ParticipantJust awesome.
I hope to god it plays as well as it looks.
None of this BC2 looks good plays wank bullshit.

ParticipantI especially like the running commentary from the toddler……impressive 🙂

ParticipantI’ll be in, not pre-ordered yet, but I shall probably pre-order whenever the beta/demo surfaces, although, my MOH purchase should give me the beta, but nothing in the post yet 🙁
Just got the Red Orchestra 2 Beta to tide me over for a few weeks 🙂
Beer_Monster
ParticipantAye, give it a go Nom, admitedly, it’s a frikking annoyingly buggy game, but it give you the opportunity to catch up with XDC again.
On another note, I’ve redownloaded RO and will be giving that another try . 😀

ParticipantI’ve been playing on the server just about every night, I’ll definatly make a contribution. Get an idea on how many want to chip in and divide it up. I’d say go for the 3 monthly rentals, if the server dies a death, then were not too much out of pocket.
On a side note, there needs to be more admins, as far as i’ve seen Wolf is the only one who’s got his head around the rcon tool. There’s nothing worse than having a complete cock on the server and not having the ability to kick. 😛

ParticipantAhhh, thanks for the warm welcome lads.
I’m LOVING the MOH open beta. Only two maps, but it gives you an idea of the playability of the game. It seems very natural, unlike the BFBC. Perhaps I haven’t given BFBC enough time to play, I bought it the 1st week it was out but couldn’t play it on the laptop I’ve been using for gaming over the last few years.
I have a ton of XDC’ers on my Steam friend list, but if there is anyone who I’ve missed, feel free to add me ,the account name is davidmartin at blueyonder dot co dot uk
dunno why I’ve spelt the email addy out, it’s a dead account now I had to move to sky broadband when i moved house.

ParticipantSince we have an “I’m Aliiiiive” thread.
Not been around so much these days as all I’ve got to play on is a lappy. I’m moving house soon and gonna treat myself to a spanking new gaming PC and you’ll all be sick of seeing me.
I’m keeping busy on TF2, if you see me on a server, drop by and say hullo. 😀

ParticipantMan, just got the news from n0m, thats just terrible.
My deepest condolences to his family.
GG’s Mugsy. 🙁

Participanti’m gonna be in the market for a new laptop soon, mainly to replace my missus beat up old dell, but i’ve decided to pay a little extra and fork out for an “enterainment” one. My main desktop is starting to make funny noises and smoking when i play newer games, and the newer laptops should piss all over my set up now and i get Bluray to boot.
The one i’m leaning towards is:
Hewlett Packard Pavilion DV7-1135EA
Processor – Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 GHz Dual-Core
RAM – 4 GB (installed) 4 GB (max) – DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive – 500 GB
Operating System – Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Screen – 17 in 1440 x 900
Optical Drive – Blu-Ray Drive
Graphics – NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GTsince i really don’t know about laptops any advice, for or against this or any other machine in a similar price bracket would be appriciated
