Get an external storage array and stick it on there!
I was actually pricing up Scsi external storage arrays and found a place that does them for about £1 per GB… unfortunately I need about a Terabyte so that’d be a grand and I don’t have that kind of budget. Buffalo do a nifty thing called a terastation…but in RAID 5 it only gives you 750GB(ish) for £650. I’m trying to not spend very much…although I think I’me going to have to bite the bullet and splash out some serious cash 🙁
Why dont you get one of those DIY external HD thingies… ie
HD (Fuck knows whether it would be compatible – youre the techie!)

Case

Whats that… about £350?
or theres this… half the price you are quoting (bottom one)

Ive got a maxtor external and it serves me well 🙂

Ram chips..

My pc would not boot just like yours a few weeks ago… It was 1 ram chip desided to go tits up.
Just to check…surely if the ram is dodgy, nothing will show up on the screen at all, I would just get beeps from the mobo? (Check me out with this computer wizardry lark!)

ParticipantRandom question – If I shove an old geforce card in to my pc which now has an ati card (and drivers) on it… would it work?
TurksMeister
ParticipantNah, you just get an honoury doctorate!
Ive got a job due to having 3 months holiday, and needing to gain back the 1.5k debt from my current account… I listen to call centre calls all day, and give them a grade… bit boring, but far better than some of my other jobs… Unfortunatly I have a temp of 101, but if i go off sick, I will lose the job, and end up doing something shit when I get better… So I am forcing myself to work until the weekend!

HA just as i thought British woman have it easy 😆 😉
Indeed they have… Im all for this equal rights lark that has been going on for the last hundred years or so (I hear ya Pankhurst!), but it seems that all the traditional pros of being a woman (errr im not talking from experience here!) still remain… ie getting doors opened for them, and having seats offered for them on the train, paying for meals and what not.
So next time you see your female chief exec at work – make sure you slam the door in her face… 🙂

ParticipantIf anyone wants my copy, for a small price (if that is possible?!) then give me a shout – I need money atm, and have to say, i thought it was a bit shit!!
Hmmm… may have to wait until my pc is fixed though…
TurksMeister
Participantcongrats dude 🙂

ParticipantYeh, I think some shirts would be cool beans… the hussars have done it before – perhaps they are the ones to ask.
perhaps a logo on the front, and tag on the bag or the other way round… endless possibilities.
TurksMeister
Participantahhh… busted! Well I did calm down a bit!! there is a thread here somewhere saying something along those lines!
I would have done the same tbh!
Game on 🙂

in most tribal communities the men and women have specific roles to play.
Women’s duties include collectig firewood or building materials or harvesting crops. The men’s include hunting wild animals, construction and general defence of the tribe. I doubt they see it as inequality 😉In Uganda, the typical married (peasant) womans day lasts 16 or so hours… including cooking, cleaning, washing, collecting water, fishing etc… the mans is much shorter – often spent socialising in the afternoons… and sleeping around!
Its just the way it is.

ParticipantFuck me… If I had known Lensman was a geek, I would never have put him forward for XDC!
Get a room!

ParticipantGot my results today… a rather comfortable 67% (70% being a first)… so close but yet so far…!
Yaye me!
Also got a job where I surf the internet all day for £8/hour… not much compared to you lot, but it all goes in to my pocket – ie I will have a grand a month to spend… get in!

Im suposed to be going deer hunting soon – but the guy whos meant to take me is a bit clueless i reckon. He keeps bugging out of trips for stupid reasons that dont really fit my idea of a bushman (its too cold/wet/hot/early/late.. blah blah blah.) Ive just heard from one of his friends that he bags 1 deer in every 6 or 7 trips out… Im guessing thats not the greatest batting average 🙂 )
I should get Queeks to take me out with his hunting bow! Though given his foul mood and evil nature lately he’d probably shoot me in the back with it 😈
At least you would be able to patch yourself up pretty well… Do you do a first aid in the field text at Doc school? or just look up nurses skirts?!

I didnt get time to try out the onboard graphics last night… would I have to disable the card in the bios or something first – as I couldnt see how to do that, and there is no way I can see that I can take the card out…
Ta
You probably need to enable the onboard graphics and take the card out.
Probably is the serial port then… perhaps it doesnt have onboard graphics…
Will check the RAM chips tomorrow
