Perhaps Pharty could cast his eye over this and tell me if it looks kosher

What the ?? Now I ain’t no pharty, but has he got a silencer on that thing ? I’ve shot various 9mm’s, a few shotgun’s, a .22, a .30/03, and they all make a very loud and significant noise, which that didn’t.
But maybe the camera guy is quite a distance away and hence the noise being softer

Still, a cracking shot considering it was a moving target

Is a good shot but you will be lucky to get a clean kill if you shoot things on the move like that , when I go shooting rabbits with my Dad I always look for the head shot (or neck) , keeps the meat in better condition and and is quick.

But aside from that , a fine shot .

OK, that was not a fine shot. It was pure unadulterated fucking fluke luck.

It was also a pretty unsporting hunt. Not the way any ethical hunter from Africa would do it it.

First off, where was the hunting?????? No really!!. Mmmm, I drive up in my pick-up. Set out my rifle on the side of the road, extend its support legs. Shoot the animal at a zillion meters. My god, what a hunter I am.

    Fuck that.

True skill would have meant stalking the animal to within 100 meters, and then shooting it over open sights, or iron sights. So these chaps went out murdering, not hunting.

Then, taking a shot at such a distance at a running animal????? So you don;t really give a flying fuck about a clean kill. A true hunter insists on being as sure as he can be that the shot he takes has the best chance possible of brining off a clean kill, not relying on blind luck that he might pull of the miracle shot of the centuary.

The bloke shot it in the stomach, pretty piss-poor by any true hunters standard.

Those blokes would have been run off my farm with the dogs on their heels, scum like that give my favourite past-time the bad name it has amongst the great unwashed.

It was simply an extremely lucky shot. The guy was shooting from a ridiculous position, at a range that experts take great care with, at a moving target. Only luck can bring that off, even if that guy was Sgt Carlos Hathcock himself.

Just got around to watching this and Im with Phart all the way. What a bunch of w***ers!!!

Total fluke shot, no skill, no finesse.

And what was that stance he was using, The ‘im a complete arse‘ stance?

No shooter in thier right mind would sit like that. Big boys with small brains and no idea at all about how to handle a rifle!!!

    W***ers!! 👿

Im suposed to be going deer hunting soon – but the guy whos meant to take me is a bit clueless i reckon. He keeps bugging out of trips for stupid reasons that dont really fit my idea of a bushman (its too cold/wet/hot/early/late.. blah blah blah.) Ive just heard from one of his friends that he bags 1 deer in every 6 or 7 trips out… Im guessing thats not the greatest batting average 🙂 )

I should get Queeks to take me out with his hunting bow! Though given his foul mood and evil nature lately he’d probably shoot me in the back with it 😈

At least you would be able to patch yourself up pretty well… Do you do a first aid in the field text at Doc school? or just look up nurses skirts?!

undergraduate emergency/first aid training is pretty poor – but ive gone on top do an advanced trauma life support course.. so have a bit of experience there now 🙂

We used to do real life scenarios of trauma for training… but I can honestly say we never did the ‘arrow from composite bow wound to the back’ treatment one.

That’s a bit of a slurr on Queeks there Doc. I don’t think he’d even dream of putting an arrow between your shoulder blades, at least not without giving you a sporting chance. Queeks would probably give you 30 seconds to get away before the hunting commenced.

Anyway back to the guy shooting Pronghorns. I agree with Phartsbury and Morgan. I remember when I used to go air rifle shooting at my local club, the guy who owned/ran it used to coach the juniors on how to shoot, gun care etc and he had a flying fit when one of the kids bragged that he could kill rabbits at 60 yards with his HW80. He said to us that animals aren’t paper targets, and that if you miss and wound it the creature could have a long, slow death. 30 yards is the absolute maximum range for hunting with an air rifle.

I guess that same thing applies here.

No this is what Queeks would use, if he was going to use a gun 😯
