I’m just going through some old posts I missed over the summer, and just wondering if this is out yet, and whether it’s any good on the PC? I’m quite keen on getting it, if only just for the single player.
Depends how hooky your cd key is. If you have a genuine one, then it’s no problem how you install the game, but if you don’t, then hope you can find a decent key generator.
Incidently, the full battlefield series is currently available on steam for £14.99
I dont have an Xbox, but was actually wondering yesterday whether any of you guys would fancy an internal league for this? I think quite a few people have it or are getting it, and I might even be able to find someone who has this local to me and be able to join in myself, although I would be the Hull City of our division 🙂
Even if I can’t join in, if you need any help with organising this or a team via a webpage on the site, let me know.
Damn I didn’t even see you posted here, but yea as I posted in the private forums, #XDC is up on quakenet, though we need to get a bot sorted.
Depends how well it integrates with quakenet, or whether it does at all. Part of the reason for using Quakenet is for future communication between ourselves, other UK clans, and competition site Admins, most of which use this network.
Do you have one in mind which we could test?

Doc sum’s it up quite nicely, though I’m sure it was 12 hours a week we agreed, and not 6… Anyway I had a wall of text type reply almost completed for this, going into the points above in a bit of detail, but I’ll leave that now for another thread later. The important thing is that I’m satisified we’ve enough interested members to get XDC back to some level of functionality, beyond simply a forum sharing jokes, game and film reviews, so I’m going to stick around and put some effort into this. We agreed that a recruitment drive’s going to be needed, but we need to assess the group we have first, and how we operate online. The approach of logging onto TS, when we want a game, isn’t working, so I’d like to return us to the notion of using IRC to keep in touch and track each other. The idea is to get us back to the stage where we actually resemble a clan, and hopefully encourage some contact between the various cliques we have still playing PC games (there are more of us than the forums/Insane would have you know).
There’ll be more to come on this, as I suspect I’ll need to write up a guide on how to use IRC, and probably argue the case a bit, but for now there is channel created on quakenet.org so feel free to join me in #xdc (no point in using #xdcuk anymore, as #xdc is available) if you remember how. I will need 4 unique ID’s in there (all of which need to be “Authed”) before I can request a bot for the channel, which will keep it permanently in our name, but as I said I’ll write up a guide on how to do this, for those who haven’t used it before or can’t be arsed figuring it out for themselves.
I think the quality of service with Virgin differs depending whether you’re on cable, or ADSL. I’ve been on both, and the cable is normally excellent, while the ADSL was rubbish (100ms ping to UK servers minimum ffs). It may be related to local infrastructure as well though.

Even the plot leading to Kirk, Spock, and Scotty all meeting up on the ice planet? That was one of the most half arsed ill thought out sequence of events I’ve ever seen in a film, and ruined the overall movie for me. The rest was excellent though.

Trying to get BF2 installed first of all, but yea I may give Forgotten Hope a go too. I think I downloaded it once, around the time we all stopped playing BF2, and never really got around to trying it. Speaking of BF2 though, I’ve got all the patches downloaded now, so once I find the CD/CD Key I’ll be up for a few games of this. Doc I’ve included the patches (2GB worth) on the DVD I posted this morning, but I didn’t think of Forgotten Hope.
No worries mate, we didn’t have enough people with it installed last night anyway, but there’s enough interest atm to get a game at some point, so just whenever you’re ready. We’ll probably give this another go next weekend.
Is the XDC sound/map pack downloadable from anywhere?
It’s quite possible we will Tooth. I had a blast playing ’42 last night even though it was Gazala (which I used to hate), and I’m well up for more of the same. I’m keen on a few BF2 games as well soon (I’ve got the patches, just need to find the cd), but those are both much more accessible games and don’t require the same organising as a game of RS, which takes priority tonight since that was the plan.
Given XDC’s history at turning up for things like this though, we could easily be moving to Plan B.
On the 6th attempt, I’ve got a working copy of this onto DVD, but I’ll need you to pm me your address again Doc.
Lets say Sunday after the meeting, or during the meeting if we get bored quickly 🙂 So, in other words, shortly after 7pm UK time.
