Uni move’s gone pretty well considering the last minuteness of the whole thing. Just got my computer over today and now up and running again online 😀
I’m still going to stick with TOA for the time being because I like the way it’s run and flying with the likes of smolarov and taurus is a good lesson in the ways of pvp etc. Long term I’m still planning on the xdc corp, but at the moment it’s just not worth it because I’m not moving back to empire space. Two of the original six months I was talking about has now passed, that’s the timescale I’m still considering, and progress on contacts etc is being made on several fronts 🙂
Not sure what I’ll be doing myself either, just going to leave the country (well N Ireland) for the time being.
Will probably wait and see how hippo and wizzy get on, then decide…..got a little attached to RISE despite the current state of affairs.
While that’s a fair enough point Turks, it’s only an idiot who would interpret it that way and idiots will always find ways to hate minority groups regardless of emails.
What makes my bloody boil is 17-40 year old Muslims who think them being searched is discrimination. Would a white hippy, who is arriving in the UK from Amsterdam be a reasonable candidate for a drugs search? I’m pretty sure people get pissed off at that, but does political correctness inhibit a search there?
Basically if you take away security’s ability to think for themselves and make searches truely random, you’re just being stupid. That the threat comes from a visibly distinct group is actually a good thing for everyone, and should at the very least be grounds for extra searches on that group. Anyone within that group who gets on their high horse about it is just an oversensitive dickhead with no common sense…..or, of course, they have 10lbs of semtex in their hand luggage.
I know you know this but the email just highlights the stupidity of political correctness. The source of the problem you mentioned is not the email, it’s just idiots in the general public.
I do respect the right of people to question the intent of this email, but I feel it’s unfairly targetted as being inflammatory 😉
And as said before, don’t take on anything too hard in it Max, you need the skills to match the missions. We can help you get a nice ship fast, but sadly can’t help with the training time.
Don’t worry about it Dave, it’s not a loan, and the same applies to what I’ve given Max, Legit on the other hand…..his name’s written all over that baseball bat :).
I’ve been trying to help you guys out as much as I can because the start of the game can be a drag and I’m hoping that if we skip you all past the really boring part, there’ll be more chance you’ll all stay and help pursue the XDC corp idea : ) I don’t want to give you too much, incase that ruins the game in itself, but I can easily afford a few million here and there, remember I’m out in 0.0 space and just to give you an example, I made 10 mil last night in an hour or two without even trying.
Just make sure you insure all your ships to platinum level, and stop following Legit’s lead 😛

Only shitty if you have a day off, otherwise it’s perfect 🙂 Oh and apparently they’re introducing an entirely new code or something today so downtime could be extended further still, maybe all day. Good job there’s football on tonight!
I always wanted to get a corp going for XDC, so it’s good to see we’re making some tracks that way :). For me it’s more a long term goal though for a few reasons.
First, we’re nowhere near the skill level for running a decent corp, and funding needs to come from somewhere. The best way to get funding is mining, so we need high skills there, and that would then allow us to consider running a POS (although as Hippo says that’s a lot of work).
For entertainment value (and easy funding) we will also need 0.0 access, which means an alliance. Obviously Hippo, Mugs, and myself are in an alliance at the moment but only Hippo is well known in it so negotiating for a new corp to be admitted will require a little more work making contacts. I’m sure Hippo would help us out with what he can, if we were to take this route, but as far as the XDC corp goes I think we’d be on our own. He’s been there a long time with the same group of people so I can’t see him wanting to leave them (correct me if I’m wrong of course :)). I’m also getting quite friendly with the guys in his old corp and have no real desire to leave them yet either.
The timescale I’m thinking we would need to get all this sorted is around 6 months. That would give us time to get enough game experience under our belts, and also all our skills up to a good level. With the new corp Legit’s just made that should provide some practice and insight into what is needed to take us to a high level. Mugs and myself in the meantime will be getting plenty of experience in how 0.0 and alliance stuff works, as well as how to pvp. The killer question though is how many of us will still be playing eve in 6 months time. If we don’t have enough we may want to abandon the idea, but in that case it should be fairly easy to get whoever’s left into at least another corp in our alliance, if not the one we’re in presently.
Well our original unit which we’ve been talking about has essentially ceased to exist as we’ve now all merged with another bigger corp, in the same alliance. Although I’m not too sure of all the details in this merger I imagine it leaves Hippo with less say on who joins up with us etc (he’s the one to ask though about all that).
Beer and max I think should stay out of our corp for the time being though, as the goons have managed to get max a few times of late which is a bit of a hinderance. The two of you could maybe gang up together for a bit while you get the old skills and isk up then come out our way a little later 🙂
Oh and one other thing, the good news Beer is that you can still fly a small ship, with low skills, and get involved in some big fights. Generally the role of small frigates is to “tackle” hostile gangs/fleets. You have to expect to lose ships, and you’re not likely to get many kills by yourself, but if you can warp scramble (i.e. prevent them warping to safety) web them (stop them running away) or even nos them (sucks their capacitor dry) you’ll be an asset in a fight. That’s basically my job in a fleet, and even though as a tackler you’re expendable and have to expect to die, I’ve yet to lose a ship in any fleet action and have 17 kills now according to the alliance kill board 😀 Ok I can punch a bit harder than you guys can at the moment, but relatively speaking it’s not a lot compared to the big boys in our fights.
I had megabeams and Tachs fitted to an Apoc out there recently and it coped alright even with the relatively low tech fitting on it. Drones take out the frigates while I was only getting into trouble when faced by 2 900k rats. Of course I lost the ship eventually, but only because I lingered about too long 🙁
