You have a big ssd there so not too much to worry about – but this is what I do.
Straight away set up a hierarchy of folders on your HDD for installing stuff. Do it now and keep to the system… you dont want stuff getting lost over the drives.
I set up folders like games.. downloads.. drivers… docs.. videos… etc etc. From now on whenever you download a prog or driver or whatever make sure you change the path to go into these files… not the default SSD. Also put steam and origin on here.
On the SSD I have windows, premiere, photoshop… all that stuff that needs lots of speed and uses big files.
Games i keep on the HDD…. except for a choice few. Most games you wont miss the SSD – but things like battlefield you do want on there if possible because it can aid map loading times. Basically i would put BF / WOT / games you know you will play a lot of multiplayer on.
A lot of this is because SSDs space was at a premium and it is hard to move down the line… but with an SSD that size to be honest you don’t need to be too careful.
xdc the docParticipantVery little bf3 going on m8 from what I can see.. though i would have a few games with you if you were keen. Certainly dont get premium as you won’t get much use out of it.
Lot of world of tanks going on at present if you like that sort of thing.
xdc the docParticipantYup
xdc the docParticipantAnyone read snow crash before? Got me interested in another bit of pentecostal weirdness…. glosollalia (speaking in tongues).

xdc the docParticipantYeah I had to teach Matt about basic WOT balistics in the pub on Monday… and he has been playing for years! 😈

They had colour photo’s Doc, but not photoshop,
LOL thanks Matt.
Maybe I am not making myself clear. There is a painstaking process (that Goat referred to) where you can take black and white photos (or even videos if you have a lot of time and money) and applying colour filters to them to ‘make up’ what a colour photo of that scene may have looked like.
I just opined that the colour in these was too subtle to have been done this way (I’m no expert though). i just thought that these were old colour negs that they have digitally scanned (and yeah – no doubt sharpened and enhanced a bit in photoshop).
Partly what I was saying was that you actually get fantastic pic resolution from old fashioned print photography and sometimes you feel like we have been racing to stand still with the digital revolution. It seemed like for years digital pics were improving all the time… but they were still not as good as the old fashioned way of doing them.

I’m trying to work out how these were done. I’m guessing black n white pics have been coloured and had pretty harsh sharpening filters applied to make them so crisp? Some of them look really good but others just seem a bit to unnatural. Either way its still pretty cool.
I dont think that is colour touch ups – way too detailed (happy to be proved wrong). You do realise they had colour photography then right? in fact it made great technological leaps in the war years.
xdc the docParticipantReally nice pics wet. Funny that after all these years pictures dont look any better now than they did back then!
xdc the docParticipantOthers it will just fuck up all the time as they never keep drivers updated properly.
I would say avoid this… it smacks of marketing genius to me.
Some applications make sense – i.e. stalker is playing over 3 screens I think – when you start doing that kind of stuff then it might make sense.
xdc the docParticipantLooks good wet. Sage advice re CPU though – check out some options.
xdc the docParticipantYeah what matt says.
Backup your shite.
Insert windows disk… reboot comp.
Will load up the windows install disk (if you have set your boot disc right) choose option of clean install / full install.
Job done.
This is pretty safe. But if you have any really dangerous data on your HD that must never be found then you would be best to reformat the whole disc with 0s and 1s before doing the windows install – I think data recovery guys could still find a load of stuff on your machine even after a windows install (yes i do mean naked pics of your sister).
xdc the docParticipantgood find
xdc the docParticipantUmmm… Lammie… I would just need to post WETs PC specialist build to answer that challenge. Remember… thats the one that you based your parts picker on! LOL. 🙂
xdc the docParticipantForget all this arguing…. spend your money on this case….

And these amazing glasses for 99 dollars… that help you ‘see’ your games better.

Re overclocked bundle, again there isn’t an option for this via PartPicker but it’s made so much easier now via apps that come shipped with the MB it’s almost irrelevant. You don’t even need to go into the BIOS in most cases now and fanny around with a multitude of settings, and hope it doesn’t blue screen at boot or go up in a puff of smoke.
No disrespect mate but I am not sure how much overclocking you have done. Do a google search on clocking with software utilities – just about everyone says DO NOT USE THEM. I have mucked about with one but got warned off it. They are not safer than using the BIOS – they don’t get anywhere near the same speeds and you can blue screen your computer just as easily.
Even if they did work… a lot of overclocking relies on getting the right marriage of hardware. if you get the wrong chip / MB / memory (either poor choice or just an unlucky bit of hardware that doesn’t overclock so easily) then it might not get to the speeds you would like. By buying an overclocked system you are getting a guaranteed speed without any risk… i wish i had done that!

As you seem so determined to prove your point lets examine this further to see if your argument holds water. If you can prove me wrong I’ll hold my hands up and admit defeat (maybe…) So I counter challenge you find a prebuild system with the same compents I’ve posted (forget the overclocking bit at the minute as it’s irrelevant) within the magic £200 window.
Ummm – thats a bit too easy. Here is a quick one on PC specialist (Haven’t even bothered looking round other sites looking for special package deals).
Spent 170 quid more than you…. same case, chip, GFX, and hard drive, but I doubled the SSD size, increased the quality / speed of the memory, got a higher rated PSU, got a nice aftermarket cooler to let me overclock it, got a warranty, and had it all built for me. Couldn’t get exact same MB – but the ASUS one is about the same price as the one you got.
