I got this on the cheap for my PS2, reviewed it ages ago on here – it was a very good game. Amazed the planks who converted it didn’t stick in PC controls setup. The entire game the camera follows your bloke around over the shoulder. Mouse aiming would have actually worked better than a controller on this one. Having said that, given that no-one buys PC games anymore and everyone just rips em off and downloads em we can hardly complain that companies won’t invest any time or money in finishing them or making them work properly.
Way I see it you’ve got 2 options for multiplayer.
First is to play the Sector Control map – which is like the BF games. Spawn, run to flag, die, respawn. Easy to get into and dying doesn’t matter so much.
Other is to accept the fact that every mission bar maybe 2 or 3 on the entire DVD (including campaign missions, multiplayer missions and single missions) vary from being utter gash to just a bit pony and therefore do what absolutely everyone who got anything out of ofp did – make up your own missions which are better. If you all go on ts it should be easy enough for 4 or 5 of you to get on someones comp and for them to host a decently designed co-op mission.
This game was on a hiding to nothing to start with. It was gonna be criticised for being just a flash OFP with better graphics and bigger draw distance if they did it as they have. If they’d have made it “next gen” or whatever hell else they call it these days and done it differently people would have said it was crap because it was nothing like OFP. I suppose you’ve got to ask yourself if you wanted the former and be happy with it, or the latter and just unintall the thing.
I’m with Insane on this one – first place I always go to dload demos and patches is Gamershell. Downloaded this patch without any bother at all.
In Judges defence he did cut off the very bottom part of the picture. The bit where it said “actual size”.
Yeah, it wasn’t so much that to be honest Fenix – I do find the all the naffing about with the AI modes and having to connect/re-connect from the lobby just to respawn a bit of a downer on it all as well.
Though I am trying to rescue this bird from MMORPG land so she doesn’t end up wearing beer bottle glasses, pullovers and talking incomprehensible shite about being a level whatever numpty everytime I see her and the bell-ends on these FPS games aren’t helping my efforts it has to be said.
The best thing to do if you get shot in the leg is heal yourself. Course, you have to make sure you’re a medic first but no-one is going to help you out. Told Jo that when she plays MP she should mark targets so the squad leader can assign them. that one backfired cos she tells me that the other night she was actually told to “STFU” because marking targets was “annoying”. I was gonna jump on a server for half an hour after we’d done a few co-ops last night but that put me off and I couldn’t be arsed.
Played Jade Empire instead – looks promising I’ve got to say, but it’s an 8 GIG install! Never known owt like it – took at least half an hour to install as well. Mental. Came in a flash box though.

Now I don’t know about anyone else but if I told my mates down the pub that last night I watched a film based upon the shenaningans of a man who dresses up entirely in leather and slides down a pole with his best mate into a cave for some privacy they’d probably ask me if I was trying to make some kind of “lifestyle choice†which would involve me being good with colours. The little voice in your head that shouting “Ha ha, what are you watching Batman for you big uphill gardeners cheesy wheelbarrow!†is your conscience you know.
And before you start, don’t give me all that rubbish about me over reacting. Here’s an absolutely genuine bit of this apparently “innocent†comic that these films are based upon.

Chinese farmers are internet rooms in China where people work 12 hour shifts killing thousands and thousands of pretend chickens to amass thousands of thousands of pretend gold. You can then buy it off them for real money on ebay and places like that. Then when you’ve spent 20 quid on the game, another 100 quid or so on subscription fees over 12 months and another 30 or 40 quid to buy pretend gold on your flash new pretend armour (which will be f*cking purple or something ridiculous on WoW) you suddenly realise that you’ve wasted a significant chunk of your life and money on something totally without any reason or logic behind it – a bit like going out with Antonia, one of my ex’s then.
