I’ve had to take a break from TF2 this month because July was really far too much work for one person on every night trying to fill the server, but we really need to get back on it though if we’re to keep our setup, but lets change our approach. How about instead of filling it every night, we pick one night (for now) and organise a big game for as many of us to turn up for as possible? Basically everyone’s invited, we pile on TS and the server, sit back grab a beer and generally have a good old school XDC session. We have more than enough people with the game now to fill it very quickly if we all arrived around the same time, and with everyone on TS (at least while we’re all sober ;)) the more experienced players can show the new players what’s going on, we can do a rotation on all the maps, maybe throw in some of the awesome custom maps we still haven’t had a chance to try out yet!….maybe have some fun with the admin options and invent a new game (i’ve picked up a few ideas from that control point podcast :))
So what I want to do here atm is gauge the interest very quickly. This is short notice for xdc, but would it be possible to do this on Saturday or Sunday this weekend? Just reply below and state what day and timeframe suits you best (atm I’m thinking Saturday or Sunday evening?), and point whoever you can, who has the game, to this thread as the forums can become quiet over weekends. If there are too few responses around this time tomorrow night, then we’ll give it a week longer to give more people time to read this, and try to arrange it for next weekend instead….those of us free this weekend can still try obviously, but if we’re looking at less than 6-8 people it’ll be hard work.
Please also invite any rats or Crazy types along to this thread, although I’ll be doing that myself tomorrow when it’s a bit earlier 🙂
Anyway I’ve really sped my way through typing this, I’ll probably have to edit a bit tomorrow to make proper sense, but you get the drift I’m sure 🙂
Oh and one other thing, if you’re interested remember to keep an eye on this thread for news 😉
if its on the weekend then i might make it if not golfing or playing in the band. set it up if im home ill be there.

I applaud you Matt for taking the time to try and fill the server, it was hardly ever used when COD4 was played either
I dont even know why we (and more often than not Pharty) are paying so much money to run them meself
Obviously people dont want to sit on an empty server waiting, you just want to jump in game and play.. tiz a tuff one this, do we still run servers that are empty or feck em off and save pennies?
oh yeah, back on topic, I’m out satdee neet, might be able to pop on sunday neet though

Gotta ask, why does everyone think the Crazy server is so popular, I usually have to wait for a place to get on there, and there’s always people on there, a lot of the times with no crazy members on there.
The quality of players usually attracts me, but all talk, the spawn timer (although better now), and a tendancy for goldrush has put me off recently. Good guys though as well 🙂
Anyway how about we set a time for 7pm on Sunday evening. That gives everyone time to catch the football and have dinner etc, but I wouldn’t like to risk leaving it much later. We can probably start earlier if anyone’s about but the more there at 7 the easier we’ll fill it.
Oh and if anyone’s around tomorrow evening we can do it then too (just jump on ts or give me a shout over steam – I should be about), but Sunday’s the main event since it seems to suit more people 🙂 Saturday could be a lot of fun with a late night possible 🙂

Yep, some seriously good players on there, and although I agree with their being a lot of talk, nothing beats Crazy Black Bob’s sounding like an American Surfer dude and saying ‘Good game all’ after every game, no matter how rubbish the game was !
.. have i missed the boat on this?… have had TF2 for ages but only played a couple of times, i liked it but didnt know what to do!.. me little un is away for a week with nan and grandad stellas so i could try n have a go. Is it too late for me?.. have i too much to learn?. i am pretty bad at games anyway, so am i a lost cause?.. i tried to find the server earlier but couldnt… whats it called, where is it etc. any help?
Nah, never too late, the unlocks tend to mean jack schitt because it is a well balanced game. Jump on, die alot, find something you like playing as and enjoy the gratuitous cartoonesque violence.
