ParticipantIm writing an essay about St Pancras Station (well, its representations of the landscape of London – and Im doing the might of the rail roads)… one of my points is about form over function – Ie how great Great Britain was…. and hence why they would spend 432 million or whatever it was in those days, on a station, when it could have been much less.
Its interesting to see that the old Euston station was demolished in the 60s, and replaced with something that looks like it was built in Belgrade!.. its fucking horrible, the old designs were beautiful too 🙁
Essy was meant to be in last moday – so mark will be capped at 40%… but since it wont count towards my degree, and I just got a 77.5% in one module, and an 83% in an essay (70%+ is a first!), I dont really care!
Stupid bloody module!

ParticipantIn the Army in 1830 they introduced the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal and they paid a bonus of £5.00 to all personnel who received the medal up until 1981 but they never changed the amount from the original £5.00!
If they had:-
In 1981, £5 0s 0d from 1830 was worth:
£132.20 using the retail price index
£168.64 using the GDP deflator
£945.19 using average earnings
£1,106.94 using per capita GDP
£2,620.00 using the GDPBastards! Not like the MOD to penny pinch!
Oh and hello chaps it’s been a while. 🙂

Participantinteresting that them cconts can keep a tradition without considdering inflation. With regards to Euston, which stations suffered the most damage during the war? surelly that must have influenced rebuilding

ParticipantTo be honest mate – I havent a clue!
Dont know much about Euston atm – just spouting bollocks about how important the railways were during the industrial revolution… and why people bothered spending so much money on them.
ffs this is boring!
