well after 48 hours of vista hell i took it off!! have not so many blue screens since withdows 98!! what a piece of crap!!
it would freeze up just browsing the web!!! what gives?
April 10, 2007 at 3:12 pm #50318XDCMADMAXParticipantI had that issue with vista business, bought vista ultimate, no issues.
April 11, 2007 at 7:34 am #5031911thSignalParticipantgotta agree, I’ve spent 2 months trying to get Vista Ultimate/32bit and 64 bit to work, I’ve got a decent rig core 2 duo 3 gig ddr2 ram BFG 8800 gfx card etc etc, and it’s completely unstable and I take about a 20% hit on overall system speed. I have now gone back to XP after mucho tinkering.
System much faster and BF2142 is at least playable now.April 11, 2007 at 8:35 am #50320XDCOldPhartParticipantI put XP back on my machine over the Easter Weekend, best install I have ever done.
Vista is shit. I do not have the time to type out all the fuck ups. Just believe me it sucks arse 👿
April 11, 2007 at 11:55 am #50321xdc magickerParticipantlol – i am glad it is not just me. i have never had to back down from a OS upgrade before!! the whole thing just cripples the pc
my PC may not be the latest thing (athlon x2 4400 / 4 gig 400mhz ram / ati 1800xl) and it slowed it down big time – even web browsing feels a little slower.
i put XP back on and it goes like a rocket again.
April 11, 2007 at 12:09 pm #50322MugworthParticipantsame happened to me. looks very nice but xp is faster!
April 11, 2007 at 6:29 pm #50323XDC DutchmanParticipantDon’t know whether I should sympathise with you lot or just laugh.
Come on, with Microsoft’s track record in supplying stable Operating systems, did anyone seriously think that Vista was going to be any good or somewhat stable prior to a Service Pack ?
Xp took a while to get thereApril 11, 2007 at 7:05 pm #50324XDCiNSANEParticipantJust laugh.. its better that way! 🙂
April 11, 2007 at 9:26 pm #50325LensmanParticipantDidn’t we have a thread a while back where a bunch of us smartarses were saying don’t jump straight to Vista?
Oh, kids, you should listen sometimes 😛
April 12, 2007 at 6:45 am #50326XDCiNSANEParticipantlol we sure did.. hence why its good to laugh at them now
*points at the nerds* hahahahahahahaha
Fashionable Geeks for teh win!
April 12, 2007 at 8:48 am #50327crazy hippoParticipanti guess that i have been extremely lucky then as i have had very little in the way of issues with Vista other than the obvious game support but seeing as my main games play fine i cant really complain.
/me touches a large piece of wood and thanks the gods of pc hardware and software
April 12, 2007 at 9:28 am #50328xdc magickerParticipantbut far better to have tried and be able to speak from experience! on the whole ms products have always been good to me
personally i swapped to xp straight away and had no probs – it was such a massive sep up from 98
vists is not a leap forward.. and it is unstable..
April 12, 2007 at 11:34 am #50329sickofitallParticipantI got that Vista Premium thing when they did it as a “get it cheap in advance when you get a new PC” offer type thing but I just never bothered with it because I’m basically too lazy and my XP works fine.
So unless someone can tell me that Vista will
1) Make any of my good games any better.
2) Make any of my crap games any good.
3) And most importantly give me access to any more smashing internet porn than I can already get on XP.
I’ll only install it when they bring out a Vista only game which I want to play. Even then I’ve read rumours that the first Vista only game will be….Gears of War!
So that’ll be in 1 or 2 years then by which time the sequel will already be out on the Eggbox. Note to Eggbox owners – go to the Mass Effect website and watch the in game movies – looks promising (apart from the magic spells of course, which look shite).
