ParticipantI’d like to know of anyone that attempts step one as demonstrated and doesn’t open up their thumb.
I reckon you could use a bog roll tube and make a rocket or maybe a plain ice cream stick B17 variety the possibilities are truly endless.
To those that think this is cruel and sadistic I would say, you don’t see people bringing stray flies to the RSPCA, or dropping a litter of maggots on the RSPCA’s doorstep. Flies are an autonomous entity in their own right and as such are not governed by any bleeding heart organisation. Besides, I bet they’d enjoy a trip in a real (all beit wooden) plane.Flies are basically spider food so to give them the gift of a free plane is just generosity beyond belief. It also gives them a purpose and a really important life lesson in co-operation that they would have otherwised missed out on. If they choose not to ‘play the game’ and instead freak out and crash the plane it is their own fault for not co-operating. Luckily seeing as the plane was a gift, they will not be charged or even sued (for american flies) for any damage. It doesn’t get any better…..for flies that is.

ParticipantThe RSPB didn’t even complain when James did vaguely the same things with birds… to lift his enormous peach…

ParticipantPah! Flies and a matchstick?
I used some two by four and a few ducks and that was much more impressive. Although I couldn’t use glue to hold them on, so I had to nail the ducks webbed claws to the wood.
However, ducks tire of flight very rapidly, so you need to elevate your plane (or duck-O-copter) before releasing it. I used my bedroom window and the ducks few at least 30 feet before they hit my neighbours house and his dogs went mental, but that was the ducks fault since they all tried to fly in different directions.
My next project is going to be bigger and better, probably using swans or geese.
