aye does the trick the card I have, although only played it once and it still annoyed me when its supposed to look jaw dropping according to the console haters on here 🙂 I suspect I need quad core and win7 before it looks like it should do, looks like I’ll have to save up for them, got Stag doo’s and Weddings R us this year, Newcastle, Nottingham and Ibiza so looking grim unless get huge bonus from work 🙂

    I got this in a 470 version

tbh I have no idea, as mentioned, it still looks no better to me as my old one, which packed in so had to get one for my film streaming, its jaggy and has really annoying sync ghey issues, hard to explain but pisses me off considering oh and the iron sites of guns look piss poor and like someone stuck a piece of lego on the end of my gun!

Wait to see what top spec BF3 requires, I know you like expensive shit that you cant tell the difference from cheap shit so maybe the first one you mentioned would suit yourself 🙂

I have the 470 – great card, as long as you get the version with 2 fans rather than one…. BUT.

Major issue with outputting from the 470 to certain projectors which affects me 🙁 (still waiting on driver update 6 months later!)

I would go for ATI mate… UNLESS like me you needed to get NVIDIA because you want to use CUDA for CS5 production suite.

I got a GTX460 as a cheap option recently and along with a quad core processor I can run bad company 2/vietnam with everything up full and at a decent framerate. Obviously the cards you’re looking at are better, but they also look needlessly expensive to me.

Check out ebay mate, I got a 5970, a £350 card 2nd had for £180. My old card fried and the company that provided the warranty went bust, but the new card is awesome, still one of the fastest on the market, and you can’t grumble at that price.

It also depends on the resolution you are playing at. In Matt’s case, I recommended that 460GTX for him as there was little gain from a more powerful card at the resolution he played at. There is no point (and I mean absolutely no point) in having 2GB of video memory and playing at 1680×1050.
