To me it did a good job of show just how much like us they are, rather than ha ha ha ah look at him.

I will admit that when i first started to watch the film i was a little uncomfortable with it, until you realise that they aren’t taking the piss out of special needs people at all, all you need to do is watch the extras and find that the special olympics have actually endorsed this film and gave it there full backing.
watched it again after that and laughed me knackers off.

ParticipantCould have just been the cinema I was in, but the rest of them were definitely laughing AT and not WITH the mongs. It’s much like the legendary Joey Deacon, just because it’s endorsed by mongs doesn’t stop people taking the piss out of them remorselessly the first chance they have.
Still 4/10. Laughing at mongs is bad.

Participantsaw this a while ago….could have been a lot better.. the ending is pure plop.. saw it coming a mile away!!.. Made me laugh a couple of times, but disappointed all in all, too scared of offended the ‘special’ people.

Vic, you can’t complain that the film was making fun of handicapped people, and in the same sentence refer to them as ‘mongs’ 😛

Participantlol, I knew someone would pick me up on that. I couldn’t think of a word that wasn’t steeped in the same bigotry. retards, spazzies, specials, scoper, there just isn’t a good single word for mongs that I can think of. 😕

ParticipantThe current PC term for children is “children with specail educational needs” or S.E.N. (just a TLA FYI)

ParticipantI can’t be arsed writing a three page phrase to describe someone when one word’ll do. Let’s raclaim the word mong for the ‘specially abled people’ and the ‘persons of a genetic propensity for difficulty with learning’.
MONGS UNITE!!!!!!

ParticipantActually, if there’s one thing that handicapped people hate, it’s being called ‘special’ or ‘special needs’. You just can’t win with them!
I suggest the word SPONGZ, as it’s a combination of mong and spaz.

ParticipantI’d suggest cutting to the chase and calling them “Welsh”.

ParticipantI thought the spastic society/ association (what ever it is) changed its name to SCOPE?

Participanthaha…im with vic all the way……they’re spastics
i too was uncomfotable with the film……not because i was encouraged to laugh at spastics.
cos of the sugary coating they gave it…..and how jonny knoxville ended up making real friends with mongs…..he sweetened it up once he got his cheap laughs from them……that made me feel ill.
if ya gonna take the piss……take the piss up front……to make it out to be anything otherwise is morally wrong.

ParticipantWell I personally think it’s better to laugh at “mongs” who are unable to retaliate, than say for example an olympic karate team.
If only Neon had heeded this advice then his face wouldn’t look like a deranged potato.
