I see some scary driving standards in an average week and it really makes me wonder how some people get their licenses, a rear shunt can happen all too easily sadly, lapse of concentration for a second, perhaps a persons eyesight isn’t that great and they misjudge your distance etc………the good thing is your not more seriously injured.
Perhaps I was being a bit too intolerant, but I agree with you about the driving standards of some people. One of the things that really pisses me off is when I’m driving at 30mph in a 30mph zone and some dick overtakes me. This invariably leads to me pulling up right behind them at the next junction or set of lights. What’s the point?
It is these for these people that rude hand gestures were made. 👿

December 1, 2006 at 9:17 am #40735XDC MadHippyParticipantOuch! It’s morning and I ache like fook. Supposed to be in work now but can’t face it. Gonna take some painkillers and see if it dulls the pain. Just hope the new boss is sympathetic 😕 😕 😕

He damn fucking better be 😡
I got whiplash when I wiped out on a snowboard in Canada, although did nothing about it at the time. Couldn’t sleep for days, because my neck hurt if I moved it. I should have gone to a doctor, but I didn’t and went into work.
As a result it took months until the problem went away. If you haven’t already, I suggest you go and see a doctor mate. It’s definately worth it.
December 1, 2006 at 10:48 am #40737CowboyUKParticipantGet a doctor, then get a lawyer. Think of it as a Christmas Bonus.
Mention that you can’t sleep at night, that you keep waking up in a cold sweat. Reliving the accident.
Then we can all blame you and all the other compo addicted cunts when we get our insurance premiums.

Not quite as bad as Bangkok Tuk Tuk drivers mind – I almost got creamed a few times last week whizzing around Bangkok streets with deranged Rickshaw drivers and no seat belts 🙂

December 1, 2006 at 11:16 am #40741WipersParticipantSorry to hear it Hippy 🙁 Hope you’re on the mend soon..
I went into the back of someone once – at a roundabout. My excuse was I’d only had a license a few months, I was in a hire car and doing a contract job which meant i’d only had 2 hrs sleep the night before. His car was a vintage MG midget thing which he obviously buffed up every evening with loving pride. He wasn’t best pleased as I ripped his back chrome bumper off. I still remember the torrent of abuse to this day….

December 1, 2006 at 12:47 pm #40745Mr.FenixParticipantPresumably, you had the Police attend the accident because of the injury? That’s the law. Get down the doctors and forget about work until it’s been looked at because you only get one neck and you want to use it every day, I expect.
Suing people is a lot like being a spoiled brat in many cases. If you have any self-esteem or conscience, best to really think about it before doing it. If the other guy’s unlucky, your insurance company is going to sue him anyway. Are the Police charging him? If they are, you might be up for some compensation anyway.

I’m someone who overtakes all the time, though not typically in 30mph zones. Nothing more tedious to me than being sat behind a vehicle that’s blocking my view forwards. I find that if the vehicle ahead has windows that I can see straight through and out the front, I don’t get that claustrophobic desire to get past. Also, overtaking is the only thing that makes travelling by car interesting.
The only way I judge people is by their consideration for others. If someone wants to overtake me or drive slowly or stop by the roadside to pick flowers, I’m cool. I’m not cool when people cause tailbacks by refusing to overtake the caravan etc and yet won’t fall back to allow others the chance of doing so. The irritation only lasts until my chance to overtake finally comes. At that moment, the awesomeness of my maneuvre more than compensates me and I’m even willing to wave happily at the grumpy bastard(s) who want me to suffer with them.
Honestly, a couple of Rover drivers can make a 25-30 minutes journey take 50 minutes. Are they fucking evil?

I have no problem with overtaking per-se, but being overtaken when I’m driving at the speed limit, especially after the fucker has been trying to drive right up my arsehole is as good as them having a big sign above their car flashing the words ‘I’m a twatty twat and I deserve a slap’.

There is a time and a place for speed, and it is not in 30mph zones. They are there for a reason. Children, dogs, old fookers abound in such places. People who drive fast in these places really fuck me off, as the Kensington Arab found out who overtook me on Glouceter Road near Partridges one Sunday evening after I was returning from cricket. Naturally he had to stop at the lights, so I hopped out with my trusty GB Purist and remonstrated with him. He closed his window in a hurry so I gave his 7 Series BMW driver-side door a very hard kick as he pulled off. Was a fucking laugh to see him pulled over just before High Street Ken looking at the great dent while I drove past with a Victory salute. The stupid cunt
