I didn’t know that. Does that mean their entire infrastructure is the same? Does it also mean policies such as fair usage are likely the same as well?

gheyness of the highest order
November 19, 2011 at 9:45 am #80794bmstalkerParticipantWhen I joined bethere, there was no fair usage policy, I’ve never been throttled or anything like that. There was also no minimum contract, I could cancel it 2 months after I got it with no penalty, but I’ve had them 6 years so no big deal. I noticed that they have a minimum contract so remember to check small print.
November 19, 2011 at 10:25 am #80795XDCSprogParticipantspecifically the part where it says…………….”the user agrees that he/she loses out all hands up in any event acts of god included”
do you agree ?
great games last night btw
November 19, 2011 at 10:16 pm #80796airmessyParticipantSky are the best i have been with so far. Bt are cunts, tiscali are a joke. But srsly i have no trouble with sky at all. Never been throttled (that i have noticed) they dont have a fair usage policy. And the help forums are constantly patrolled by techies and they are great. None of that reboot, try rebooting again bullshit at all.
November 20, 2011 at 10:27 am #80797XDC wild egg tamerParticipantwas thinking of moving over to BT for their infinity service……..any thoughts?
November 20, 2011 at 10:47 am #80798airmessyParticipantA m8 of mine has just changed over to it and he is so far happy. But he came from aol so basically anything from a 56k modem up would of been an improvement 😀
Only thing i did not like about bt was there fair usage policy. You pay a higher rate so you dont get massive extra bills. But if you go over your limit they cut your bandwidth to the ground until about 7 pm ish.
Well there is one more thing. When i moved back to south wales, the house i was moving into needed to be reconnected (basically plug the thing in at the telephone pole) and they wanted £220 for doing it. I told them that i had phone and adal with them for 10 years and if they would not waver the cost i would go to a rival company that would give me my phone internet and some sort of tv package for the price i am paying with them.
They cut it to half and i said no just cancel my line then. 30seconds later they said they would do it for nothing.
Moved into the new house and one month later they finaly got someone round to sort the phone line out. One week later i had a bill through my door for £220. I was fucking livid.About an hour later a sky saleman was on the door. So i switched on the spot got the same speed interwebz (no fair usage policy at all) phone and sky hd+ box (without sports and movies and hd package) for far less than i was paying bt a month.
I have since moved again and sky moved everything for free. Never had a spot of bother at all with them. I wont swap even tho there is fibre here. I refuse to touch bt with a barge pole again.

I would go for infinity in a heartbeat but the don’t roll out in my area until 2014/15 which sucks balls. I’ve never had any probelms with Bethere (who are a subsiduary of BT), their tech support is awesome. I wouldn’t move for anything less than a fibre connection though, not even if someone was to offer me twice the speed for half the price.

local exchange is fibre and i live pretty close so they reckon i could get close to the 40mb 😀
November 20, 2011 at 1:03 pm #80801XDCiNSANEParticipantAnd egg needs 40mb for what? 😀
I’m with F2S who were taken over by talktalk business unfortunatly, F2s support were superb, called em once since as was ok.
Wont got with BT as they now block Newzbin as told too by the courts 🙁
November 20, 2011 at 1:17 pm #80802XDC wild egg tamerParticipantlol insane, not sure yet. 😉
Just had a look on their site and it’s capped at 40Gb a month, ample i would assume but with both Tv’s now networked up and able to stream content from iPlayer, ted talks etc etc etc i would assume that it wouldn’t be too difficult to get near the limit once you throw in a few torrents and iTunes purchases along the way!
May stick with my existing service, was called nildram but now i think owned by talk talk – not had issues so far but then i’m not gaming any more so have no idea of latency issues etc.
