ParticipantLol phart – post the set up again so i can compare. Im pretty sure that GFX card would beat your older sli versions together.
I went for the slower CPU for cost benefit reasons only. Its easily overclockable if I get a few more fans in there 🙂 The next model up cost a whole lot more for not much benefit from what i could tell.

ParticipantDoc, get the 6300 (1.8 ) and some Geil 6400 and clock the biatch (use TAT to test temps on both cores) you should not need to raise the voltages on cpu, until above 3g, should get 3g out of it….me lads got the same chip and some overclockers value 6400, may be able to hit 3g, having a go on Sunday 😆
nice mobo, clocks well im told, me lad has the DS3 which clocks fine(fingers crossed)……if only i had the money:( mind you my 64 3200 @ 2.5 (25% OC, running 24/7 for several months totally stable)on 2g of twinmoss rubbish and stock cooler is no slouch, may invest in a decent cooler n see if i can get a bit more out of it, but me rams probably holding me back.Doc….visit overclockers.com (shop) forums, theres a thread on overclocking that board and conroes
Mugs, i got the 1950pro 512, nice card, mind you i only play RO and get v little increase in fps against my 6800gt, mind you its more cpu intensive rather than gpu

ParticipantHeres what persuaded me that pharts sli wasnt as good as buying the newer ATI..its from toms hardware.
Radeon X1950 PRO Crossfire / GeForce 7900 GS SLI
It is with some hesitancy that I recommend dual-card setups in this price segment. The biggest factor is that in most situations the ~£170 / €235 X1950 XT will perform just as well as a pair of cheaper cards, but for less money and hassle. Dual-card setups introduce a lot of unpleasant factors that the user has to think about: they run two times hotter, consume twice as much power, offer inconsistent performance compared to a single card and may not work with dual displays. More expensive motherboards and power supplies have to be purchased. The list goes on. Keep in mind that a single X1950 XT will perform just as well in many situations for less money and far fewer headaches.
(ive edited it a bit to shorten it.)

ParticipantYou guys aint listening… sli AND crossfire are a bleedin waste of time… as I predicted when it first came out I might add (cant find the post – but I did!) Quad SLI just about had me in stitches when that was dreamt up 🙂

ParticipantSorry Doc.. I was a lil off topic.. I have the X1900XT card which is as fast as if not faster than 2 x 7900 cards in SLI mode! 😀
or was it 2 x 6800 cards.. i forget .. anyhoos my point still stands minus the addition of the word Crossfire! 😀
and OP.. you are indeed correct… but it tells you a story and proves a fact if someone who loved nvidia as much as Madmax loves EA .. buys Crossfire and never looks back!
