Nomster old man, I will look after 1 server, if the clan looks after a second (cost wise) it will be very nice indeed. I would like to see a more inclusive server arrangement as there are several peeps who are not BF2 nuts, but with whom I can remember some good times in the older games, and I would like very much to be able to include as many XDC chaps as possible in playing on XDC servers. Two servers gives us the opportunity to give most people a shot at a game they enjoy, whilest playing with the clan and people they know.

what can you afford ? rackage may do you the offer of a super server (dedicated) that will run anything and a free 32 player ranked BF2 like the deal we have, discounts for 3/6/12 month payments.

I am well in favour of 2 servers, but forgive my ignorance, is the TS channel includedin any server deal?
I don’t think we should decide now what goes on, as Lammie said, there could be a lot of funky on the horizon, BF2142, QW, TF2 etc.
Maybe a plan would be to consolidate the server costs and website running costs, so everyone can contribute fairly to both, and save Magicker some grief at the same time?

32 player for 2 reasons, 64 it’ll lag peeps out, but as we found out last time we had one, some poor sod had to spend the whole game as Admin, to sort out a server full of fuckwits.
were about to move the website onto there server, finally get everything from one provider, there not rolling it out just yet to the public, 7DR are going to be the test subjects 😐
more often than not were running 3 servers on the dedicated box, with TS, ATCx2, allsorts of crap basically.
and there supports the best i ever came across.
What is RO?
I think a 32 player server seems best as others have mentioned too, 64 player ones can lag a hellva lot for some ppl on PCs not much more advanced than 2 wires and a bit of cheese in the middle.
I think you lot should have a scortched earth server. I can donate a Spectrum for it 🙂
Gonzo, at this stage I will fork around £700, but when the pay to go with my promotion comes through I can effectively double that.
As fer the missus, she has her money, I have mine, and never the twain shall meet. 8)
£867 will get you the same dedicated server as us for 6 months inc discount, now do you think this would suit if i can try to wangle a 32 slot ranked BF2 ?

What would that all entail mate?
Multiplay do a 32 player server for around £780 for 12 months. TBH a 64 player server does not seem to be the best option for us atthe moment.
it would get you a dual core opty 2.6, 2gb RAM, 200gb hard drive and raid 1 backup solution, unlimited bandwidth on a gig switch, 2 ip addy for the dedicated box and ability to run 3×32 player servers, and if rackage say yes, a 32 man BF2 ranked on the side 😉
