In Uganda, the typical married (peasant) womans day lasts 16 or so hours… including cooking, cleaning, washing, collecting water, fishing etc… the mans is much shorter – often spent socialising in the afternoons… and sleeping around!
HA just as i thought British woman have it easy 😆 😉
Indeed they have… Im all for this equal rights lark that has been going on for the last hundred years or so (I hear ya Pankhurst!), but it seems that all the traditional pros of being a woman (errr im not talking from experience here!) still remain… ie getting doors opened for them, and having seats offered for them on the train, paying for meals and what not.
So next time you see your female chief exec at work – make sure you slam the door in her face… 🙂
July 26, 2006 at 11:32 pm #30897XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantUnfortunately you can’t be an equal AND have ‘special treatment’. The two are mutually exclusive, so it’s either one or t’other.
Or to put it another way; There weren’t any suffragettes when they shouted “Women and children first!” on the Titanic 😉
July 27, 2006 at 7:44 am #30898TurksMeisterParticipantYeh… I bet no one chained them selves to that frigging boat!!
July 27, 2006 at 9:27 am #30899XDCiNSANEParticipantLOL Doc’s favourite film I believe lmao! 😀

Oh yes equal rights for women! :
July 27, 2006 at 11:51 am #30901xdc the docParticipantLol – I never said it was the best film ever… Im just man enough to go against the ‘cool’ zeitgeist of the moment which is to slag it off.
Top film… as is anything else that Cameron makes… FACT.
As for equal rights – I dont see why we cant improve our deplorable history with regard to female emancipation in the work place while retaining some common courtesies for the ‘fairer sex.’ Different issues really.
July 27, 2006 at 6:51 pm #30902XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantI dunno. I’m not saying that women didn’t get a raw deal throughout the course of history, but men haven’t had it much better either.
However, I’m all for equal rights, starting with me getting my state pension at 60 and not 65 😉

Whilst I agree with you in some respects…

Sheep!!!!
Much as it pains me to do so, I must agree that our resident snow-boarding Scot has a point. Titanic isn’t that bad and here’s why:
1) It’s got Kate Winslett in it. She’s almost as sexy as Allsop, with her posh voice and impressive gams.
2) Dicaprio gets killed.
3) It was indeed directed by the legend that is James Cameron
However there are a few points that aren’t in it’s favour
1) Celine Dion sang the title song which has since appeared in EVERY talent show since. And it’s Dion. Dear god. Why?
2) It has Dicaprio in it, and he just looks like one of those kids at school who used to spend all breaktime talking to the teachers who were on duty to make sure we didn’t hurt each other.
3) I knew what was going to happen from the beginning. I was like “Hmmmm… I reckon that ship’s gonna sink.”
4) A love story? WTF? What’s next? A musical comedy about Stephen Lawrence?
So it’s 4 bad points to 3 good points.

July 28, 2006 at 7:43 am #30909LensmanParticipantWhat pissed me off about Titanic was that it was the old stereotype of plucky-oirish-peasants vs stiff-upper-lipped-cold-hearted-English-bastards theme.
Oh look – how those peasants stuffed 200 to a room must be having so much fun with their little jigs and below-decks river dancing. Oh yes, much better than the posh ball on the upper. It was probably the bloody clompety-clomp of the effin river dancing peasants that weakened the hull of the ship in the first place!
Bloody Hollywood. 😈
