ParticipantSome possible good news – it seems the council had CCTV on the street because of prositutes in the area. bad news is, they may have been at the other end of the street, or facing the wrong way…
It’s a shame the police don’t give enough of a shit to bother tracing the guy who called the ambulance – either he or his friend was taking pics on their camera phone which could help prove stuff, but tbh it seems like I’ll have to find my own proof, as apparently police investiagtors don’t actually investigate anything… =/

ParticipantThat’s really tough luck Legit 🙁
If either of my kids want to get a bike I’ll my very best to dissuade them from getting one, they’re way too dangerous. My nobber ex hubby managed to write off 2 bikes all by himself, and his brother went one better and managed to kill himself!
Get a car next time 😀

ParticipantI’ve been trying to get access to the tapes from the council, but when I ring one department, they refer me to another, then another, then another…. =/ I tried to get hold of the local councillor to help chase them up and to chase up the police but he is in Westminster atm so I’ll have to wait untill the weekend to speak to him.
I also contacted the local newspaper for a witness appeal, mostly the customer who was infront of me in the que then also the guy taking pictures of the crash on his cameraphone.
I got the bike back after a £117 recovery & storage fee – it’s totally fucked =/
Oh well…
EDIT: Just phoned my insurance company, I may be in a small amount of hot water for forgetting to tell them I had a private plate on at the time, but because of the way the cherished plate system works the bike can use either my private or original registration 8) oh… and they also think his BS story is BS too 😈

ParticipantSorry to hear about all the shite Legit, realism mod for bikes time for you me thinks. Which means as the chaps have said, fully comp is the only way! I, as you know, have been riding for eons (VMAX FP1200 V4 rules) and it only costs me £99 per year FC, ………. but I also have donkeys years of no claims. 😉
If I couldn’t afford the insurance I would buy a cheap piece of shit bike that didn’t matter so much if I ‘lost’ it.
P.S. I take it have the address of the twat…………need I say more?

ParticipantThe problem is m8 even with buying a cheap piece of shit bike, fully comp is still £1-£2k either way, being unemployed on top ain’t helping but even if I wasn’t £2k is a lot of money and with my luck I won’t crash and it’s £2k in a hole – atleast with only £800 in a hole and it being the other guy’s fault, I still meet the legal requirement and his ass will have to cough up.
The insurance company said they may be able to get me onto a hire machine and charge it to his ass, I’ve got my eye on an ex-demo 2005 Honda XL650 TransAlp with 1,100 miles on the clck @ £4300. I figured if my dealer will let me loan it ‘on hire’ they could pick up the rent, then when the ass pays up the damages I pay them the remainder of the asking price of the bike and hey presto, I get myself a nice (albeit ugly) all rounder which would be nice for touring and carrying my PAT testing gear 🙂
Apprently 1 of 4 CCTV cameras operated by the council on that street was right next to the scene …. but with my luck it is probably facing the wrong way FFS.

ParticipantSorry LeGit, I didn’t make myself vey clear there did I, GET THE FOOKING BUS! 😯

ParticipantI’m 23 ya bugger! How old do I have to be to get £100 a year fully comp and how many teeth have to be false to qualify? Besides, it will still be high even if I tooka break for a few years hehe as you have to have a few years continuos no claims to get a spangly discount. Even though I’ve had a few crashes, each time they’ve been classed as ‘no fault’ at my end, so I haven’t lost nay NCB. Even better, although I’m being shafted price wise, every 8-9months with my new company I get 1 years NCB, so in 2 years with them I get 3 years NCB for the money. I’ve got 6 months with them now… by Feb I should have become eligible for an early 1 year NCB hehe so I’ll have a total of 2 years NCB 8)

ParticipantSorry to hear what happened my friend 😥 😥 😥
Hope you get well soon. The important thing is that you survived the crash sod the bike, it can be replaced……Like I said to you before, get a car = BIKES ARE DANGEROUS !!!

ParticipantGlad you’re alright but it doesn’t suprise me you’ve had a crash as you’ve said lots of times stuff along the lines of ‘Why is it that I can do 90mph in a 1.5 metre gap between lanes in heavily jammed traffic vs lorries and buses and shit and every vehicle pulls aside out of fear’
You really don’t strike me as a good rider. I’d quit the bikes and here’s hoping you don’t speed in your car.

As the bike is almost 1.4 metres wide that gives 5cm clearance either side, @ 90mph I’d have to be a good rider 😛 Seriosuly it’s safer to ride like a bastard than to ride text book, but also note I had my crashes riding text book and each time it was the other guy’s fault. Ride like a lunatic = no crashes, follow my teachings (police bike insructers/regional commanders..) and you get hit by dozy people. No one can say they never heard something coming in low gear and high rpm whailing like a banshee and for the people that actually bother to use their mirrors they move out of the way. Those that don’t, have enough power/weight ratio to piss all over them anyway – 500bhp/tonne. I was trained to IAM standards by the people who wrote the book – seriosuly it’s not me in the wrong, it’s every bugger else and the incident reports prove it!!
