I’ll buy it too.
It’s a shame I don’t work for EA anymore – I would have got it free :(. Still, £20 from PCWorld sounds reasonable.

I tried it for the hell of it, but as for the buying it, no I dont think so.
Its nothing more than a matter of prinicipal, its taken EA so long to get BF2 going that I have lost all respect for them as a software publisher, I cant really see me giving them any more money.. How many patches are there for BF2? 4? thats not really on as far as i,m concerned.
I,ll be saving my money and waiting for OFP:ArmedAssualt to be released.

Won’t be getting this, even though it will make little difference in real terms I’m hoping that there will be a few people like me (and Recoil) who take the line that EA and diCE have fecked around with the series and never got it nearly right with quite horrendous errors (the memory leak is massive in BF2 STILL after 4 patches) that it is both a waste of money and the oly way you can get through to them is by not buying the game. I’m workig on the principle that if enough people feel this way then they might notice, I doubt it though.
Oh well, enjoy 2142, I’m sure it will lead to mass enjoyment which is the point of the game really, but I can forsee the frustration coming to all you players when you find the inbalances, the crashes, the memory leaks, the poorly writen sloppy coding, the general frustration I now associate woth the BF series.
tried it again last nite (quite late)… just cant get over the cone of fire and the 2 clips to kill someone malarky 😥
walker type things are fun…wont be buying it, mind you i think it will do well for its intended teen market.some good looking mods for RO coming out and armed assualt…
dont think i’ll play any fps that has a cone of fire or a crosshair ever again

I originally posted that it had potential, I was wrong, sorry but its shite, I dont particularly like BF2, the formular in 1942 worked well and we seem to be moving further and further from that with this steaming pile of crap, Dice did good war games, bf1942 and to a certain extent, BFV, so leave the future to those who do it best like id (Quake). Utter utter shite……………wanders off muttering………
I’ll be buying it. I actually like playing it. Just tired of playing the same old map, LOL. I remember playing the BF2 demo, I think I didn’t touch Gulf of Oman for a month after…hahahaha.
Very dissapointing game.
If the demo is that full of bugs, then I hate to think what the retail version will be like.

Everyone is so quick to right this game off! So what, ok it took EA 4 patches to get a game working, hell, it took them 5 before bf1942 was ever playable, to not buy a game from EA just because of EA past history, then i dont get it, you lot who complain about EA, how many of you have got 1942 and BFV! Stop your whimpering!
Ok, so its got a cross hairs, so dud bf1942 and bfv, but it didnt stop you RO lovers, liking them! Its got potential, its early days and i think if you had a chance to see some of the unlocks, you would see, how good this game is going to be.

I’m not ashamed to admit I like crosshairs. I’m a crap shot at the best of times and need all the help I can get.
But having said that I still enjoyed the RO demo, But that had nothing to do with the presence or otherwise of crosshairs. It’s simply not that important to me.
With 2142 I like the squads. I don’t like the weapon names (see thread elsewhere) but I guess I’ll get used to them. I like the Titan mode, but find it frustrating that many people ignore Titan defense. I guess that will come in time, and is what will help make the teamplay aspects of this game work.
But I think the Titans are too easy to take down. They are also exactly the same designs, and so I think Titan combat will get plain boring.
The walkers are OK, and I like it that they are not uber-machines – a tank can slug it out with them with a reasonable chance of victory.
I think the red diamonds make it too easy to spot the enemy, and make a mockery out of trying to find a sneaky hiding place. That’s the one thing I think EA have got very wrong in this game.
I like the electronic disruptor weapons – it means you have to team up with somebody to take advantage of the temporary weakness of the enemy. It also makes for some interesting decisions when you are flying a plane and get hit by one of these – do you bail, or hope the effect wears off before you crash?
I like the graphics – it’s come on boat loads since the beta.
I also like the potential of the kit choices – it’s not something really seen in the demo, but was a part of the beta and made for some great variations. One thing you can do with the demo is to trade-off speed and stamina against armour. Try selecting Customise when choosing your role, and turning off the extra armour option. You can run farther and faster jump higher, with the slight downside that a mosquito bite will knock a chunk off your health 🙂

I think once you have a few unlocks, “holding your own” against a tirade of enemy will be far more fun! Last night I took about 3 potential attackers with my heavy machine gun, and I swear it gave me a mahoosive boner!
