Yo Ladies – I am getting BSODs about twice a day which is a tad annoying. Firstly I thought it was Azureus fucking with my system, but it does it for utorrent, and when I try to watch a film or while playing BF, or just now, was on utorrent and tried to play a game… Not sure if it is a hardware of software problem- I did a clean install within the last 2 months and the PC was bought in August.

After the last one, CPU= 46*C, MB = 33*C and CPU fan running at 2556ish rpm… so thinking not a CPU error.

Using Win 7… will download hijack this and post in a sec…

absolutely pointless without the error code. then when you have the error code
    “STOP 0x00000**”
then you can google the bugger and find out what it is.
in fact google it with the info you gave us in this thread you lazy bugger! 😉

well this may be a bugger but when ive had that happen ive had to use my camera to tape the moment. If it’s random then thats more of a bugger. If you think it’s perhaps a hardware issue try removing one ram at a time and see if that works for starters

Will give it a go- hav change the fan control setting in the bios, and deleted a load of shit- not had one since, but is bloody noisy!

dunno if its an overheating issue. in reality all you need to do is check the temps every now and again and make sure they are normal. seems that if its a hardware issue then the normal culprit is the ram. Also its worth making sure all the cards a firmly in their sockets just in case

it says that the code is D1 (in old xp BSOD that would have come up as 0x000000d1) and means a driver irq not less than or equal to. This can be down to faulty drivers or software. So first things first:
if at all possible try and read the .dmp file that windows created and see if it has the culpret drivers or software thats causing the problem written in there. (presumably a sys or dll file)
here is how to read it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315263

once located google it if its not obvious what driver its for and then go to their page and get the latest compatible drivers for Win 7. See if that fixes it.

bare in mind I’m no IT expert and I’m still using XP so I’ve just done all this by using the magic of internetz and google

    Legend – cheers

Strangly it only happens when I try to run two processes at once, such as Watch a film while downloading another one, or downloading while playing a game… makes me think it might be due to my non supported wifi dongle.

Can anyone recomend a good replacemnt for O2 wireless broadband? I get confused with all the N shinanigans!

You don’t need to replace your broadband provider, just the wireless router if you want to upgrade to N. I take it you had the same problem as me and your wireless adapter stopped working with win 7, I replaced mine and I’m not too happy with it, the performance is sporadic and it is not properly supported in 64 bit win 7 (despite them saying it is). Either way if I want to play games I have to boot up in XP.

Apart from that, win 7 is still not worth the money I spent on it!

Just back from hols and saw this thread.

As ever… I am now convinced that Turks should never have been allowed a PC… get back to your PS3! 🙂

Anyway – good advice from Spunker but I had to laugh at him suggesting filming your crash and playing it back to see your BSOD message! LOL – imaginative.

Just go to start, run, type ‘sysdm.cpl’ go to advanced, startup and recovery and disable restart automatically. You can view your messages at your leisure.

    Will that stop the bsod?

Err I meant just the dongle! The internet works but the dongle is about 5 years old so barely supported by
XP… had to do some digging to get a driver that worked, and think it may be corrupting something or other!
