hmm pharty… i wonder? The gfx cards aint as good as I was thinking of getting – but if the tech heads here think its a good buy then I could be tempted.
Why you selling it again? Surely its good enough for your needs at present?
If I was going to buy it how much would it cost to send to Bonnie Scotland? And can you part with it soon or do you need it for a while (as that may cause me problems due to a severe FPS deficiency that I have been suffering from over the past 2 years.)
If you chuck in a sat nav ready mobile phone then we definately got a deal 🙂
Mate, I want the Core 2 Duo with a 8800 GPU. The machine is fine, I play BF2142 at 1600 x 1200 with high detail settings and have no issues.
Just remember that there is no mouse & keyboard & monitor with this.
Oh, I want to retain the 250 gb drive as it is ful of me tasteful pr0n collection 😉
I would ship it up to you. MMmm, I would need to build me own new rig first, so would take a week or so….
December 14, 2006 at 4:27 pm #40289xdc the docParticipantSorry to resurect this thread – what do you guys think of this?
I have used Neons sensible suggestions as the basis for a custom PC from these guys in the states. As you can see it get all of the bits that Neon mentioned – along with a Case, power supply, DVDR, only thing missing is the monitor and a 2nd hard drive.
Works out at 604 pounds as is – not sure what shipping will be… and Ill have to pay VAT on it too….. sensible?

Very strong pound, no import tax on computers and shipping costs aint that much m8.
I saved hundreds on a laptop from the states a few years ago.

Forgot about the pound and I was not aware that there was no import tax on pooters.
Minti got his machine from PC specialist. Maybe he can tell us what they are like? I didn’t by mine from there for two reasons
1: I think their cases are wank
2: I always build my own PCDecember 14, 2006 at 9:58 pm #40296MugworthParticipantIf you go for one of those P4’s (I find the model numbers baffling lol) then make sure the motherboard has either the new chipset for Core 2 Duo or one of the older chipsets with the core 2 duo support added in.
Most of those are £100+ for the motherboard just now.
Vista is very good and seems to be much more friendly to games. I only have a poor Radeon 9800 and I have got a 20fps boost after upgrading to Windows Vista 🙂
Funny how I have both DX9 and DX10 installed.
I need a new pc too, but dont have any cash lol. what ashame
December 16, 2006 at 9:50 am #40297xdc the docParticipant20fps jump with vista????? Lol that sounds like bullshit – but hey ho – if it works ill be happy.
I am seriously tempted by the pc specialist deal there – but im still listening if any 1 has a better deal in mind. Ive had a look through ebay – but theres too much risk of scamming i think 🙂
Do computer sellers have January sales too? Maybe I should wait till the 1st?
December 16, 2006 at 10:35 am #40298AnonymousParticipantBleh stop sodding about with those crappy foreign PC’s and buy Phartys will ya! Nice bang per buck and would save with the hassle of importing/import tax/damaged in the mail and dealing with an international warranty should it go sour! Plus I bet he would deliver it in person in his gimp suit!!
December 16, 2006 at 12:17 pm #40299xdc the docParticipantWell – 2nd hand technology gets out of date REAL fast legit – and he pulled out of selling that system anyways. That pc spoecialists one is a UK company BTW.
