Was on the server today, saw someone from my APC..shot him, looked around the flag..saw another two guys, shot them..looked around and then noticed 3 guys dropping in…Ahh..mobile spawn I think to myself..better blow that sucker up as it’s in a position wayyy back near our base and needs to go…
So I nix the 3 guys who’ve just spawned and jump out to find the beacon only to have 2 other guys spawn…back in the APC…night night…jump out again and 3 more spawn…one clever guy with a missile launcher this time, and I’m toast…
Get the old “camping mobile spawns is lame” texts…
My point is this…If the opposite team has a mobile spawn on our back cappable flag, and I’m defending the flag on my own…what am I supposed to do? I think it’s perfectly acceptable to sit there all day if they’re stupid enough to keep respawning and blast ’em until I can get to the beacon and destroy it… The squad has 2 options…accept the spawn is compromised and spawn somewhere else, or spawn as mechanic,and stick a rocket up my arse… which is what nailed me in the end…
There’s a huge difference between a team totally dominating a map and just camping someones spawn because they want to rack up loads of kills(that is lameness personified), and someone trying to defend a rear flag on their own from a squad with a well placed beacon…
Now I’m mentioning it here because I want to know what peeps think…If it’s considered really crap and against the spirit of things then I won’t do it again, but I think there’s an important difference to be made between “lame mobile-spawn camping” and trying single handedly to defend a flag from a well organised squad who happen to have placed a beacon where I can find it and then insist on respawning there despite knowing someone is waiting for them.
By the way, my intention is always to blow the spawn point when I can…Not to rack up loads of kills/points…but if peeps keep respawning there making that task difficult then I have to shoot them first, right?

I don’t think it’s possible to be lame about camping mobile spawns.
They choose to spawn there, they take the risk. They can’t complain!

I agree with Ziggy here. The primary aim is defending the flag – locating & killing the spawn is secondary.
The only thing different I would have done in that scenario is to bitch at my teammates and ask for help. With a couple more guys you can locate & kill the spawn as well as defending the flag. Being left there on your own is a bit tricky.
So, no, I don’t think it’s lame.
Zig is lame! but as for the camping situation I’ll admit it wasn’t that lame, just a bit. What you guys didn’t hear were his evil maniacal laughs as he was doing it, rocking to himself screaming “It’s all so easy! Like Lambs to the slaughter! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHaha” etc. Was quite embarrasing as we have guests, but they know about his “problems” and so put a brave face on, at least they were polite, unlike the last people who ran away screaming as he poured the tea naked, but that’s a whole other story…..

Im not even going to enter this debate! imho, camping spawn beacons without shooting them, is a little ghey!
the point is Max that it wasn’t possible to destroy it because people kept spawning on it, not giving ou enough time to get out and destroy said beacon without risk of death without finding said beacon and thus losing the back flag. It’s a quandry wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in an enigma etc etc.
I think MAX is only pointing out peeps who know the location of the spawn beacon, have access to it…In fact are probably looking at the damned thing and just waiting for you to show up.
Otherwise. What zig was doing wasn’t camping. If you were calling for backup and no one came for whatever reason then you have to defend as best you can. Those are the stakes…thems the breaks 😉My point is you can’t shoot the beacon if people keep spawning there!
Of course camping without attempting to get the beacon is a little bit ghey…that’s why I made it very clear in the thread what was happening…I wanted to get the beacon and peeps keep spawning!!…but the point is…don’t spawn there anyway..or do it with a rocket launcher…it’s not rocket science…

And the second point is, I’m defending the flag…someone’s near the flag, I try to kill them…I don’t really care how they get there…if they insist on dropping from the heavens right in front of my gun then that’s not my problem…I’ll keep killing them until they give me chance to get to the beacon…
Oh and one thing I didn’t say..whoever placed the beacon knew what they were doing ‘cos it was a right git to find…
*edit…This all reads wrong kinda…like I was annoyed or something, or worse, am toothy’s ghey lover….I wasn’t annoyed at being called “lame” ‘cos it was toothy so I told him to shut his cakehole..the only reason I posted this was to find out what peeps think..I don’t want to be a twat when playing…unless it’s toothy in which case it’s perfectly OK…

The only reason I made an ingame remark of you being lame is that because if I had done exactly what you did with the beacon, I would have been threatned with a kick from the server and probably have been kicked, and then I would have had Queeks saying my stay in XDC is almost over – just found it quite funny 😆 as I was flying about in the TalonJetThing to hear all this bitching by Max over the voice comms

Its a difficult one. If people keep spawning while your looking for the spawn there’s not much you can do.
Big difference between that and sitting in a vehicle, not shooting the spawn and just picking people off as they land.
Probably just as annoying for the peeps that spawn though
Spawn beacons are a two-edged sword. Half the time that one’s deployed, the squad actually want it destroyed or moved anyway.
From the enemy’s perspective, most of the time they want to destroy it – but only for their own tactical reasons. There’s no obligation to respect a beacon or to destroy it. Multifuck the luckless squad until they wake up and spawn somewhere sensible. Thrice multifuck them, I say.
Remember, rape is when there’s no choice in the matter.
