This problem is getting worse and worse and its starting to get to me. 🙁
Everytime i play 2142, im finding that if i play on your server, the game crashes and i end up being back on my desktop with 800×600 resolution, this happens around 3 to 6 times in an average length of game.
Its getting that bad that i cant play a full game without this happening.
I,ve tried other servers and it still does it, but not as bad.
Do you think it could be a server problem?…or problem with my pc?
If it would help i can post the full spec of my pc…off the top of my head i think its a X86 Intel 3059 Mhz, 1 gig ram, and the graphics are from the Radeon X550 chip.
I dont get any warning/error box’s come up, it just crashes!
What do you reckon? 🙄
I get CTDs a lot more on XDC server than anywhere else, come to think of it, it rarely happens anywhere else! 🙁 Then again i am mostly pissed when on your server so prob my fault!
Can only get on late at night coz of little ‘un.. had a couple of one on ones with Alzir and Wipers tho….. found out Alzir is ‘The Boss’ from Wipers!.. learn something everyday! 🙂
In terms of the crashing to the desktop, it shouldn’t happen quite as often as you describe, i get it once in a blue moon, or an annoying minimize that i cant seem to restore without BF2142 crashing,
the fact that your resolution changes back to 800 x 600 isnt normal, it could either be out of date graphic card drivers, settings in bf2142 (resoulution) that are different from your actual monitor resolution, or the fact that BF2142 can just be a steaming pile of wank sometimes…forgive me EA. 😉
I must admit I must agree with Stellas I play alot and I usually have more problems on the XDC server than any other although you could temper that with the fact I play on the XDC server more than any other.
Still i think the problem could rest a little with the multiplay server although having Vista at the mo most of my problems are gfx related at the moment, but again this only seems to be with BF2142 I have found with my particular problem that if I login in and then alt-tab out and back again it usually gives me at least 2 hours of hassle-free Bf-ing. anyway thats my two pence
You are not the first to complain re CTD’s on our server alone.. Try telling the gimps at Multiplay that though!!

I get a lot of crashes, and now I’ve upgraded my graphics card I get a lot of system freezes too. I think in my case the crashes are related to driver/EA software being wank. The freezes are alomost definitely due to my PSU not being ballsy enough for the new card – fixing that soon.
While I mostly play on the XDC server, I get at least as many crashes when on others.
With the crash not resetting your desktop res, my guess is that this is driver related. It’s an OS feature that resets the desktop res when a program running full screen mode either terminates or gets switched away from, and this feature is dependent on the driver.
With my nerd hat on, I would struggle to understand how different servers could affect how the client machine (i.e. your PC) could be the cause of crashes. It’s just network packets flowing between the machines, and that is the responsibility of the game server program itself which presumably is the same on all servers.
But there again, maybe there are some configuration settings that make the servers behave differently.
mmmmmmmmm…i dont know whether i take any comfort in the fact that other people have a similar problem to me or not! 😕

I dunno if anyone else has this problem but for reasons quite beyond me my machine crashes around 80% of the time when Ceberea Landing come on the cycle. This isn’t just limited to playing on the XDC server either. Anyone else have/or have heard of this problem? All the other maps are fine.
Well I know I’m stating the absolute bleeding obvious here but if you have a game that’s crashing all the time the first thing you should do is tone down your flash video settings in the game. All those shadows and reflection effects should be the first to go.
I admit that it doesn’t sound like it would work given that your getting more crashes on certain servers but it’s worth a try if you haven’t done it already.
Having said that – if certain maps crash a lot then that says to me that it is your graphics settings that need turning down.
Well, today i treated myself to a Radeon X1300 512mb graphics card just in case it was my diddy Radeon X550 that wasnt up to the job, and im still having CTD’s!
But at least the graphics look better and it plays better before it does crash! 😉
The game is a total fuckup and it does fuckup more on XDC than anywhere else – even when I was busy whoring my way up to the top 10 in the world and #2 in the UK every other server in the world ran much smoother and next to no crashes compared to XDC… XDC server even regularly crashed on 1 of my favourite maps which was never a problem on other servers…
To put the degree of fuckup into perspective – if you crash the guys in your vehicle crash with you =/ Pod was in my walker on a map and we both had a simultaneous CTD, yet everyone else in the server was fine…
Half the reason I don’t play it any more is because of the crashes – the rest of it was too many cheaters/statpadders and I did a years worth of hours so I’ve seen enough of it!!

Nothing to do with the fact you played it almost constantly for 3 weeks then…
