Since winning lots of money on a virtual horse race, I am looking to buy a digi box… Must have
2 Tuners
DVD recorder
Hard diskAnyone got any suggestions? Sony have got some pretty sexy looking models, but with only 1 tuner – madness.
Anyone got any suggestions for further features? Looking to spend in the region of £200-300.
Cheers

Don’t know too much about the standard freeview type PVR boxes, especially on that has both hdd and dvd recorder, but definitely pay a visit to AVForumsNovember 10, 2007 at 12:46 pm #61949TurksMeisterParticipantNot interested in Sky as yet as I am living at home, and parents dont want a dish.
Is it possible to get upgrade your channels with a card on Freeview? or did I make that up?

you will be pushed to find one with a DVD recorder on,but if you get one with pc conectivity i.e usb, you can use any pc to burn for you, plus you can use the pvr to access stuff on your pc/lap top to play on your TV.

November 10, 2007 at 3:21 pm #61952TurksMeisterParticipantSo could you play a DVD from your pc on the tv screen?

November 11, 2007 at 1:04 am #61956TurksMeisterParticipantThankyou Mr Wolf!
And it was 11,000 thank you very much!
November 11, 2007 at 11:54 am #61957TurksMeisterParticipantOther than size of disk, is there any difference between the model above, and this?

(other than price, ofcourse… and, indeed, colour!)
November 11, 2007 at 1:25 pm #61958XDC-snellParticipantI a Sagen pvr and the rule of thumb seems to be, 55 minutes recording time per GB. Mine only 80gb and I have only ever half filled it.
November 11, 2007 at 1:55 pm #61959TurksMeisterParticipantThats exactly what I was thinking – and even if i did fill it up – I can always transfer some of the stuff to DVD.
For £150 it sounds like a bargain… may wait for a discout code though.

Turks I have had this PVR for about 18 months. Thoroughly recommend it. It is excellent – changes the way you watch telly. It is possible to record 2 channels at once and be watching a third at the same time. I’ve never come anywhere near to filling it up. Problem is finding time to watch the stuff you’ve recorded. I’ve got films on it I recorded over a year ago.
