I just checked my laptop and found that although I’m running XP professional my hard drive is FAT 32 not NTFS, which means there are certain things I can’t do with it.

Question is, should I convert it to NFTS, and is this risky? I find it odd that it is FAT 32 in first place…is this a laptop issue? I know it’s partitioned but dunno why it was configured that way…Any ideas?

def. convert to ntfs, much more stable and secure file structure that fat32.

I’ve seen a fair few laptops on FAt32 but I’ve been out of circulation for a few months and getting a bit rusty, but IIRC FAT32 is better for smaller drives such as those on laptops 💡 I’m sure there is a method to the madness but I can’t for the life of me rememebr why atm 😥

    cheers guys….

I have about 35 gigs which i suppose is quite small…so best to stick to fat32 then?

if i do decide to convert can i do just 1 part of the partition though?

IMO I’d wait until you’re due for a format and re-install. Then use NTFS.
