This book is one of the best novels I have read in a long, long time. It is touted as ‘lesbian interest’ but I didn’t let that put me off 😉 . It’s a fantastically well written book, with really shocking twists ans turns throughout, and it’s so very well written that I actually cared about the characters. I think it was adapted for a BBC short series a few years ago, btu I’m glad I didn’t that as it might have spoiled the book.
Set in Victorian times, there’s an underlying love story (but not soppy love story, it’s not sickly and girly) but it’s alos full of intrigue and suspense, and it’s totally impossible to second guess the author. The lesbian sex isn’t ever going to get into Fiesta, but hey, Tipping the Velvet is next on my and it’s meant to be hot!
