Seriously. I’d consider a dual boot setup if I were you.

ParticipantI’ve found BF just as unreliable on Vista as Xp but at least I have new shiny icons so Vista all the way, the only hassle I have had is with some of the gfx setting within Vista but that was more to do with Nvidia than Vista.

never EVER had a memory issue meself, even in BF2.. so how does that relate to the game and not your shit PC/OS?

ParticipantFor the past two months I can’t remember a time when my version of 2142 hasn’t hung or crashed mid-game. You guys should feel honoured when I say goodnight ‘cos normally I have to reboot it. I’m pretty sure that that’s not good for the PC.
I think I’m going to take the plunge with Xubuntu Linux on my PC as a dual boot machine with XP, just to see if it’s any better.
My PC works fine with everygame I play Quake 4, Neverwinter Nights, Homeworld 2, Rome Total War and OFP. Only 2142 causes any problems, although I’m sure I’ve plyed it more than any of the others.

OS is debatable, but my pc certainly isnt Shit… – memory errors are a common problem with BF2142, so are map crashes (yet i dont get those) unless everyoine getting this memory errors has a ‘shit pc/os’ ??? Which i sincerley doubt.

ParticipantI have never experienced Memory Errors with 2142. Although admittedly I have it running with XP Pro and not Vista.
Whilst 2142 will run on Vista it is not officially supported (Sli/Crossfire is also not supported) hence most peoples preference to run on XP.

ParticipantAnyone with memory errors / regular crashes (Ryzo/Neon) should run memtest32 for at least one pass just to rule out bad ram.

ParticipantSee.. PC is toss.. or broke which is the same thing
iNSANE knows all, Ryzo knows nowt.. which is northen for fook alll 😀

Participanti uninstalled vista due to lack of driver support on my mobo – however i installed it on my work machine which is intel through out and it has been rock stable so far and a pleasure to use. so far so good.

Participantere bytheway.. what makes Vista so good.. and dont give me all this “moving icons” crap.. thats for pink trouser wearers.. I installed it on a machine at work to see what all the fuss was about.. apart from the different background and the “addins” like the huge clock.. which you can download for XP.. I didnt see anything striking in it.. granted it was only a glimpse but it looked the same as XP to me, give or take a few backdrops
I installed top whack Vista ultimate bytheway

just a thought. But isnt 2142 based more in directx? (hence being unable to alt tab) or am I imagining that? anyhow what about a clean install of directx9.0c and see if that makes any difference?
