I orderd a 250gb samsung hdd and went to install XP on it, just before the format (full NTFS) it was showing it to only be 130GB, muh 😕

Sure enough xp installed and everything is telling me it’s only 130gb, everything except the lables on the hdd and my reciept that is.

So has this been mislabled and sold onto me or am i being really dence and there’s some dumb partition limit with NTFS (im 99% sure there isn’t not like FAT 16 or 32)

I dont have partition magic or similar atm to double check it

How up-to-date is your mobo? Some older models will only see up to a certain size.

What Max says. If a mobo BIOS upgrade dont work you can usually download utilities from the drive manufacturers web site to allow you to see it all.

Maximum partition size under NTFS is 16 exabytes (or 18 billion gigabytes 😉 )

Install service pack 2. XP up to service pack 1 can only see drives up to around 130GB.
