December 7, 2011 at 6:36 am #81372bmstalkerParticipantAre you comfortable building a PC? I just built one for my sons’s Xmas for around £280. (OS not included)
It will play BF3 on full settings at 1680×1050

Holy shat 280!! Gief detailsIf I had the budget I would have spent more, if you bump it up to £350, I reckon you could get it to play 1920×1200 at ultra. I’ll have a look tonight and list some ebay parts but the general gist will be:
1x mobo + i5 proc + 4GB ram for around £150 (I spent £115 and got a quad core AMD and 4GB DDR3, not ideal, but it was cheap)
1x Graphics card probably a 6850 for around £100-£120 (I got an HD5770 for £60)
500GB HD for about £40
Then all you need is a case (about £30), a PSU (about £25 but you should probably spend more if you can) DVD/RW (about £15)I ended up spending a bit more as I picked up a gaming keyboard/mouse, a set of speakers etc.
I’m sure you could canabilise your old PC and only really need to get Mobo/proc/RAM/GFX Card, what is it you run just now?

I will need specs/exact components pointed out to me because i never know if xxx will work with xxx fine. And if things like psu will have enough power/connections.
Whenever i buy pc parts for an upgrade i always seem to need something else. (bought a fx card and needed a new mobo and psu. Bought a new mobo and needed a new dvd drive mobo was sata only no ide)December 7, 2011 at 10:10 am #81376airmessyParticipantBah nm about the list. Misses said i ether buy one now or she will spend it all when she goes xmas shopping. So i just ordered one before she went out the door 😛

December 7, 2011 at 11:00 am #81378airmessyParticipantWas the first one i linked. The xfire one. Should be good for a while i hope.
