    Ezy All,

Is there an app that will let me use my iPhone as a Shared Device in the same way I can plug my mp3 player into my usb slot and transfer files that way?

    Cheers.

I believe you can do it with an ipod – not sure if you can with iphone…

Maybe jailbreaking it would do it.

Ask on http://www.avforums.com – they know their shit!

I think you’re right worse luck. Best I could find is Airsharing but that’s still not really what I wanted. It’s the only thing that I dislike about the iPhones (well that and iTunes.) I still think it’s the single best phone out on the market these days. Haven’t had this much fun using a phone since I picked up the first Nokia touchscreen. If anyone’s thinking about a new phone I’d certainly give it the thumbs up.

bah I love the screen and technology, but I despise the fact you are stuck with itunes and have to convert you’re music, otherwise i’d have one (if they were smaller), oh and as long as you could assign ringtones and use mp3s..

oh and if they hactually produced good music, they are so far behind MP3 players so not for me

Hmm the converting part hasn’t been as annoying as I thought it would be. Is a wee bit of a pain though. Strangly the size of the thing has never really bothered me. For some reason is never actually seems that bit, and plenty big enough if you want to watch a vid. One of the main reasons I picked one up was so I could stop lugging about an mp3 and a phone. The app side of is so damn addictive. Love being able to record my sky programs via it, and all the net surfing, messaging, and other bits and bobs. With the 3g stuff it really helps for never getting lost. Many people sack their Sat Nav and use this now.

….though I haven’t actually got my replacement yet as it was delivered today and my dumbass housemate didn’t drag his sick ass out of bed to get the door. *grumble* Now I gotta arrange for it to go to the post office tomorrow!

There must an app Insane that lets you use mp3”s and stuff foryour ringtones without doing it via iTunes? Hope I can find one.

    5800 FTW!

you can do the recording on most mobiles from sky mate

I believe you can, but its supposed to be a bit fiddly.. prefer “insert into USB, detect, copy and paste” meself.. again, I would get one if they acted like a normal device.

The iPhone is succesful because of the uptake, not based on its performance, but on the hype that surrounded it. They are tactile (big whoop) and well supported with apps, but that doesn’t make them batter. I am looking forward to the new HTC which will be an all round better phone by the looks of it, but as I will be waiting till september/october to buy one, it will have to wait!

Not getting an iPhone though, apple products are big on style, low on substance, but adequete for most things.
