Never mind you poofs with your air soft guns – I went out and tried some real firepower at the weekend 😈
The target…
100 yards distance – my first ever shot of with a real gun….
Did some deer stalking – but didnt find any 🙁 Shot a possum though 😛
September 11, 2006 at 2:16 am #33666XDC_WolfParticipantthe only deer you were going to shoot wiht those clothes on were no i deer!
September 11, 2006 at 2:17 am #33667xdczigzagParticipantThose trousers would be good camo if you lay down in the middle of the road but it’s not surprising you didnt see any deer with that gear on…
How did you hit a big paper plate at 70 yards with a 20x scope???!!! Amazing!
September 11, 2006 at 2:20 am #33668XDC_WolfParticipantdoc goes lion hunting…

First target…

Lol your knowledge of ballistics is pitiful!
A bullet going through paper will leave a hole as big as its diameter …… but if it hit you in the chest you would know all about it… and probably have a fist shaped hole in your back as a result 😈
It was a 270 calliber if any1 is interested.
We had a .22 for possum hunting as well.
Thank god for restrictive gun laws in the UK – I now want my own weapons – scary!
😳
September 11, 2006 at 8:18 am #33674XDC wild egg tamerParticipanthehe, i know the feeling doc…
When in Italy my uncle showed me his Heckler and Koch rifle with laser sights! Sadly, i couldn’t fire it as the season doesn’t start until after the 17th September and the sound would be picked up by any nosey locals……..but i’m going back for 5 days around the 21st so should hopefully be able to let off a few rounds.
My cousin out there is also a bit of a gun nut and has a magnum in his collection as well as a WW2 mauser, he was recently offered a fully working, mint condition sten gun for 1200 euros but refused it as he’s waiting for a genuine WW2 German machine gun to turn up. He too has offered to take me shooting at some point and hope to meet up with him at a later date, possibly in November if i can get the funds for another week out there 😉
Being in the Tuscan mountains, there was very intense partisan activity during WW2 and a lot of weapons were dropped by the Brits and yanks to aid their cause against the Germans……i’ve been fortunate to have fired an Officers Luger as well as messed around (though not actually detonated) with American hand grenades and even had the enjoyment of watching an old tree trunk blown up with plastic explosive all courtesy of the allieds in WW2.

Damn, I was going to say it looks like a .270 before you posted that. I have had my .270 since I was 14. Very accurate cartridge, fast and flat shooting, however, a bit too light for some contexts. You should be able to hit that plate at 400 meters with ease with a .270 and a scope.
September 11, 2006 at 10:31 am #33677XDC_WolfParticipanterm a 270 caliber rifle would be huge, in fact it would be a cannon!
September 11, 2006 at 5:13 pm #33678TurksMeisterParticipantIm going shooting at Bisley in October… with me mum!
Theres a trophy there named after some dude in my family… Whitehead innit 🙂
September 11, 2006 at 11:29 pm #33679XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantPah!
Guns are for wimps! I’ve taken out paper plates up close and personal with scissors, and even with my bare hands once. Sure you might feel safe, with a few hundred yards between you and the plate, firing off shots with your .270 but nothing beats taking them out as nature intended; one on one, and face to face.
Although if it was tupperware I’d recommend an axe of a sledgehammer.
