So it’s out now, and I have to admit I’ve been taken in a bit by all the hype, not least because I really enjoyed the first version, but will I get my money’s worth out of this one? In particular I’ve heard the single player is short, and not quite as good as the original, but how close is it? I seem to remember the first one being pretty short itself, but to me it’s irrelevant if it’s something I’ll remember as fun. There’s also the multiplayer problems, which I’ve heard mixed reports about so far, but I’d like to hear more people’s opinion on the matter.
So are you glad you bought it, and would you recommend I get it too? Oh and this is, of course, directed only towards those who’ve bought the PC version. We’ll take it as granted that the console gamers will be happy enough, since they’re used to the multiplayer system already, and I can’t join you online anyway.
Got it on PS3 and it is awesome! Played 3 hours of Co-op last night and it is staggeringly good. Then finished off with 2 hours of multiplayer, and was literally blown away by how smoothe it is.
Get a PS3 then get this!
Didn’t get it. Was half considering it given the price drop but went to the supermarket to have a look but as usual these days no PC games (my local branch of “Game” doesn’t stock any PC games at all, effing ludicrous).
Not buying this on a console, that’s just mental with the controller. Assisted aim and all that bollocks. For gods sake.
I just could never buy into all the hype about this one. The single player will no doubt be good but the mp will be the godawful mess it always was. Of that I’ve no doubt. The 9v9 cap I read here might actually help it a bit though.
Every cloud has a silver lining. I was just on my out of the place when I passed a display selling Jennings dark bitter at a pound a bottle!

yes its wise to do so.. theres plenty of stock of the games left at the splendid prices as no one wants them so you wont be dissapointed.. however all the 360 versions sold out within hours 🙂
I’m not too clever with controller and prefer mouse, but this is brill, you can switch off assisted aim if you prefer (just like you can on PC games) to which I guess will have this option also as they seem to be going down the console to PC port on this :/

I was passing by a Sainsbury’s today so decided to have a look at around 1100am. Needless to say there was a sign where MW2 should have been saying “Apologies – out of stock”.

duh.. obvious.. I miss playing/having a laugh with you all and it would be ideal if all had same console.. not to mention its only good for watching/streaming films, and the occasional super game like Unchartered 2 (not that I’ve played it) 🙂
Oh and its online is toss as is its controller.. anyhoos I shall quit as this isnt the thread for dissing 🙂

its ok, its nothing special. the single player is ok for the second half, so about 3 hours is good the other 3 hours is a bit meh.
the MP is ok, its fun but i miss the hardcore versions of every game type. you only get hardcore deathmatch as an option which is a bit sucky.
the peer to peer server system is ok, sometimes you end up on a crap server due to someone hosting on a crap connection. then if they leave you have to wait 30 seconds while it sorts out a new server from the existing players which is really annoying as it almost always happens just as you are getting into it.
i havent played the co-op stuff yet but will hopefully be trying it this weekend.
so overall its ok. nothing special. over hyped and doesnt deliver the same experience as cod4 did. im not sorry i bought it as i will play it, its just that i could have been much better.

That’s fair enough mate but since I understand that Infinity Ward had the decency to put the airport scene on rails so you only need your mouse hand to mow down civilians therefore leaving a hand free to masturbate with furious, demonic force whilst you do so it would seem a bit of a wasted opportunity to play it on a controller, which needs both hands to operate no matter what you are doing.
For this reason alone, the PC version has to be the clear winner.
I hated the PS3 controller to start off with, but as with most things, I became awesome with it over time.
We need a cross compatible game (PS3 team, Xbox team and PC team) to play, and then we will truely see which is the best platform of them all…
Surely someone has thought of this in the gaming world?!
There was an MMOFPS announced years ago called Huxley which was going to stick PC and 360 users on the same servers. Not sure what happened to it.
They probably realised the people playing it on PC using mouse keyboard would absolutely murder the 360 players.
Either that or they canned it because it looked shite.
More likely Microsoft worried what Xbox Live customers would think about these people not having to pay to play online.
