After a long bloody day at work the fuckin last thing i want to do is start reading tutorials just to get this to work so if ppl are gonna change shit then at least make sure everyone else can get it to work FIRST

The invalid characters refer to the : and port number on the end of the ip address.
The address = 85.236.100.19
Don’t worry about default channel either
February 28, 2007 at 8:25 am #47145RyzoParticipantIl d/l ventrillo tonight and pop on, i assume the TS mutiplay one is no longer active.
February 28, 2007 at 9:49 am #47146WipersParticipantI don’t want to bang on about this but most of us have used TS (happily) for years. Like Lammie said the codec used by default on our TS server was CELP 5.1 which is one of the lower quality ones – probably implemented when it was first setup as people were still on 56K connections and bandwidth was crucial. I noticed the Vent server is using a GSM codec – so its no wonder it sounds better. TS has many codecs inc GSM of varying qualities. It might have been an idea to change the TS server channels to a better quality codec to see if there was an improvement first?
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not a TS fanboy – I don’t give a monkeys chuff what comms server we use – but now a lot of people are going to have to faff around with install, settings, wondering if its going to work in game etc etc when one of us (with TS server admin rights) could have just made a simple CODEC change on the TS channels…
February 28, 2007 at 9:56 am #47147XDCiNSANEParticipantI’m a fan of Ventrillo.. theres such a clear difference.. but tbh I agree with Wipers.. its all so fooking confusing for such a huge change like that in too lil time.. try and make TS better before completly changing it if the codecs work
Ventrillo is kool, but having Stephen Hawkings telling you who’s joined the channel gets right on me tits! and and you cant seem to switch the coont off!

Tried it…
Didnt Work…
🙁
February 28, 2007 at 10:11 am #47150nOmParticipanthmm mine will work 😕
willing to take a bit of stick for the comms feckup, had asked pharty a while back if we could switch the ts RO server for a vent one, as dazz has been paying for vent outa his own pocket.
just found this…..
A codec is a property that every channel (room) on a server has, it’s a technical word that describes what technique is used to compress the voice data before transporting it over the internet. To change the codec of a channel, you right click on it and select ‘Edit Channel’, there you can set the codec that will be used for all further communication in the selected room. Note: You will probably need administrative priviledges [server admin (SA) or channel admin (CA)] in order to change the codec of a channel.
Codecs are usually a trade-off between bandwidth usage and quality, the bandwidth usage (in KBits/sec) is part of the name of each codec that TeamSpeak offers; following we have ordered codecs by quality. Note that quality can not be measured, so the following is just the opinion of the writer of this text.Quality: (best quality comes first)
Speex25.9 > Speex19.5 > Speex16.3 > Speex12.3 > GSM16.4 = GSM14.8 > Speex9.3 > Speex7.2 > WinCELP5.2 > Speex5.2 > CELP6.3 = CELP5.1 > Speex3.4
What codec for which internet connection?
DSL/Cable or better
For talking Speex 16.3 is easily good enough, if you want to transmit music, go Speex 25.9.ISDN
Speex 12.3 sounds alright, limit your download to 14 KBit/s if you want to game. Speex 16.3 with download limit on 17 might also be OK.Modem
Speex 9.3 is still quite good quality. Limit your download to 10 KBit. Note that if you want to game its way to high a setting, go as low as you can bare (Speex 5.2, or even Speex 3.4, limit your download to 6 respectivly 4).Note:
Since codecs are a channel setting, it’s always a weakest link decision – the guy with the slowest connection decides on how low you have to set the codec.
