Saw this in a bargain bin at the library for 25p so I thought to myself ‘what harm could it do?’
Little did I know what I was letting myself in for.

I have now finished the book after vowing that it wouldn’t beat me and I think I am a little dead inside. How in the name of all that is good can this man’s uneducated scrawlings constantly get into the best-seller charts? Poor grammar, bad punctuation and even misspellings dog the book, although I’m not sure that the last one is all down to Clive himself. It wasn’t even that, so much, that irked me; no, it was the generally poor standard of the language used. His use of simile was clunky, use of metaphor, inappropriate and the speech so wooden it would have sounded like it was coming out of Keanu Reeves if spoken aloud.

After this experience I shall certainly not be bothering with any more Clive Cussler novels. If it were possible to take a shit in book form, Clive has succeeded.

I’d give Pacific Vortex: Unmitigated Rubbish/10
I’d give Clive Cussler: A punch in the face if I ever meet him.

    Aaah!

I have read pretty much all of his books, some very good stories in them!

The Oregon Files series which he co-writes is excellent! really good about this team who live on this old crappy looking freighter, but in reality its state of the art with gizmo’s asnd the like!

There has been some good books by him.

Cant remember what pacific vortex was about though? sounds like one of the original books?

Lol – I had 2 audio cussler books to listen to whilst driving round NZ. Hilarious grasp of language (not helped by some of the worst voice acting ever) but there is a bit of an interesting plot in them I guess.

used to be my pulp fiction when I was about 15 holidaying in Spain some real cringeworthy stuff and eventually quite generic. But as Doc points out, the plots and twists can be quite interesting. Mainly pap tho
