    I’m having a lot of trouble with my PC slowing down when playing games. Especially in TF2 theres a regular loss in FPS every 40-50 seconds ( down to 2-3 fps for about 8 seconds). I’ve upgraded all my drivers, but it’s made no difference. Is there a application that records what applications are using my CPU and how much so i can narrow down where the slowdown is coming from?

    I’m sure you’ll tell me to set fire to my rig and start again with something better.

    AMD 3200+
    Abit KN8 ULTRA
    Gainward 7800GT
    2Gb RAM
    Couple of HDD
    yada yada yada.

    Aww mate… you need to upgrade the yadda yaddas to version 2! That should sort it.

    Ahem… and er.. reinstall windows… you know you will have to. 😀

    try a fixed paging file http://www.download.com/8301-2007_4-9933933-12.html” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

    whatever it says in the reccomended box, set as min and max so it cant move

    Yeah m8, that seems to have worked wonders. The slowdown has drastically reduced and the games are now playable. I’m still a little miffed that i have to play these games on low settings. Theres no proper upgrade on the horizon as i’ve spent a fuck load of money on my new found love of scuba diving and if i spend anymore cash on pointless things i’ll be looking at divorce.

    Hey

    If you have two hard drives, you may also want to move the paging file onto the other drive.

    Hope that helps.
