ParticipantI have checked google, and cant find what I am looking for.
Basically, whilst in Uganda, we took some film footage of Hyenas in the wild… and the people who took us there want pictures of from the film. I have tried a number of different capturing methods (print screen, fraps, Image grabber etc) and none of them give a good quality large shot from the film. Does anyone know of some software that will do this for me?
Cheers

Participanttry usig a movied editing software, it should divide it up into frames for you so you can go through and select a frame and then print screen, whatever (may be included in the software the ability tro print a frame). Just a guess but would be my first port of call!

ParticipantRight, open up movie maker (c:program filesmovie maker) which should be installed on your computer, import the video (may take a while and not respond if it’s a large file) then select soewhere near where you want to take the image from. By using the alt + arrow keys you can go forward or backward a frame (0.08 seconds) until you find the right frame. Then click on “tools” and “take picture from preview. here are two frames from a random video off ebaumsworld:

ParticipantCheers daddio! good pictures… although they are quite small… perhaps that reflects the quality of the film… (as in resolution – not saying the film you found is shit!… although it may well be!)

Participantweel the film I used was compressed for internet viewing, so the quality is always going to be worse than virgin film stock!

heres the vid – At the end you can hear the sounds they made to get the hyenas interested – I think it is recorded with the aid of a dieing cow. It was fucking eeeerie sitting on top of a landrover in the middle of nowhere listening to that shit, with flesh eating animals running around below us!

ParticipantWe had night vision goggles first, to see where they were, and then they switched on the main beam so we could see them, and film… which startled them a bit!

Participantwas going to suggest VLC media player as that has a screenshot capture thingy that will make an image of whatever the screen res of the film is:
