So who the bloody hell is this Lensman bloke?

Seeing as you have all been so kind as to invite me in, it would be rude of me not to tell you a little about myself.

Surprisingly, Lensman is not the name my parents gave me. That would be “Greg”, or “Shortarse”, depending on who you talk to. I’ll answer to all of those in Teamspeak. I’ve been around a bit – I’m no spring chicken, but I am still many years away from senility.

I’ve worked in the computer industry for years now, working up from software engineer through product management and team management of some pretty complex products. Yeah, a bit of a geek. I have been working in and around the games industry for over 10 years – the last couple at EA via acquisition. Oh yes, today is my last day at EA.

The first online multiplayer game I played was “Fighter Squadron: Screaming Eagles over Europe” – on a 56k modem!! – a few years ago. The whole Doom/Quake thing passed me by – not my cup of tea. I played BF1942’s predecessor from DICE (I forget the name, but all the core elements were there: jumping in and out of vehicles, mix of planes, ships, & ground vehicles, etc), and then of course moved on to DC, BFV, and now BF2.

However, the first networked multiplayer game I played was waaay back in the late eighties – Flight Sim on Silicon Graphics workstations, when I worked at a CAD company.

Married to Sarah with one son (3) called Reece. When I suddenly rush off from TS or stand still in BF2, it is normally because one of those two is calling, and not because I am either (a) deaf or (b) being a rude sod.

Nothing else of note, really. Quite a boring chap really. I bet most of you fell asleep reading this.
