I’ve realised I have been playing BF2 for far too long without knowing certain things that may seem bloody obvious.

How do you steer helicopter TV missiles? – Now, I’ve been a gunner a lot, and even killed a load of targets with the missile, but steering appears to be more by luck than by design. Do I hold the mouse? Repeatedly click? WHat do I point at? Or what? The problem is that practicing this is hard as you can’t do it on your own.

What are all the ways you can get “Team Points”? – I rack these up in a round, but am nowhere near (*** STAT WHORE WARNING *** ) the 40+ team points you need in a round to get some of the medals. So, apart from healing, repairing, rearming, flag capturing, what do I do to get loads of team points? E.g. as commander?

    Confused/felling stupid 😕

Point and click on the target mate.. keep doing it until you destroy it

Dunno anything about Stat whoring / point hacking so I’ll leave MadGhey to answer that for ya 😉

The TV Guided missles are fly by wire so you have to keep clicking you mouse on the area to want to guide the missle to

I think you also get the them for vehilce damages assists, kills assists etc and also following orders issued by you commander/squad leader

‘How do you steer helicopter TV missiles?’

With great difficulty, hence I fly and try and get myself a reasonable gunner. But yeah it’s point click click click – I think I saw somewhere that the aim is slighty off and you have to click just to one side of the target – not sure about that tho.

    Team points:

Repair (about 1 per full tank, commander asset), heal (full bar), revive, neutralise point (+assists), cap point (+assists) i.e. only 2 points if you cap a flag with others 4 if you cap it on your own, destroy commanders asset, kill assists, ammo packs. May also get 1 point for a Defend Flag too. Think these are right, correct me if I’m wrong.

Think you may also get points for a medic/engy being in your vehicle and healing/repairing (driver ability points).

TV missiles are a sinch to use, I quite often fly the heli on my own if no one wants to be gunner and just switch to the gunner seat, fire, explode target and switch back with plenty of time before I smack into a tree

How do you steer helicopter TV missiles?

on the main screen which the pilot can see when you get in the chopper…..without going into the fuzzy ctv footage mode ?? there is a rectangular box underneath the main target….if your pilot can line up the target you wish to destroy within the rectangular box…..and you press the launch at that time when its lined up.

that will destroy what you want to hit with a fairly high succes rate.

how do i know ?? well considering i dont even play the game if true it will be a miracle……but it worked for me…. you need a calm collected co-pilot who can hold her steady and is prepared to lose the kill so you can claim the missile launch……good luck in finding one 😕

practice makes perfect……but i am fairly certain that is how to use the missile thingy correctly……i remember me and spugs having a fair amount of joy doing exactly that.

but then we were both always prone to run off in jeeps in 42 and smoke a bifta behind iwo jima while the battle raged elsewhere.

ahhh i miss those days where you could have a break from getting artilleried or gunned down every 4 seconds within respawn.

    Thanks folks.

I think it’s the multiple mouse clicks on the missile where I am going wrong. I just tend to press fire and hold the button down, and move my mouse to try and steer it. The multi-click feels odd.

The team points looks pretty much as I had figured – except for the obeying orders bit. I still can’t work out how that works. If as a commander I say “Attack here”, what triggers the team point? Is it the squad commander relaying the order, or the actual movement of squad players near to the target? If it just the relay then you could get loads of points even if the command was ignored in practice.

Don’t think you get points for following orders.

How do you steer helicopter TV missiles?

Someone told me you can get a keyboard or mouse or something (think its logitech) that allows you to program a macro so your mouse effectively ‘clicks’ 1000 times a sec so you just guide it without actually pressing your mouse button……. but doing this is heavily frowned upon and will prolly get u kicked/banned if you get caught!!
On sharky you can set one up to hit the MEC helli when in the tank at the TV station….

These are just a couple of examples… these aint my ideas (blame CLF Picard17 for ’em) he doesnt play BF2 anymore BECAUSE of this type of stuff goin’ on!

    Have a look here mate:

http://files.bf2s.com/details.php?file=405 Nice video showing you the the “how to’s” so to speak.

If you want to check out how to really pwn the noobs in a helicopter…check out “Duck & Cover” Redux from Code7 is probably the best helicopter pilot in BF2. When you notice, he flies and guns by himself!

When commanding and say you point out where an infantry is located and he get’s killed, you will get a team point. Spot out any such armour, ect and it gets destroyed, you get a team point. SL calls for supplies, vehicle, ect and they use it….team point. Stuff like that.

interesting tips… btw everybody will die at some point so you must spot as many as possible (unless there is a definite time between spot action and actual death … )

    cheers
