I had a couple of very good games on XDC last night, then I finished my gaming evening with two rather poor efforts which must have seen me barely slip by without getting a purple heart.
So at about midnight I decided I’d play ‘one for the road’ and not wanting banter and the usual XDC hijinks I went onto another server playing Camp Gibraltar 24/7, where I racked up 38 kills in one game (which is a record for me) and got about 8 new dogtags.
Now I know that there’s a lot of luck involved in FPS’s and we all have bad evenings occassionally, but I seem to find the games on XDC much more challenging compared to other servers.
Anybody else found this?
Yeah funny you mention that as I’ve been thinking the same. I put it down to the fact that as soon as I see an XDCer the red mist descends and I try and knife their cheeky ass. I miss (or hit then get shot up by XDC guy giving backup), then start again!
There’s a few things that spring to mind.
Firstly don’t underestimate the ‘Max Factor’. If he’s on your team he does all the killing. If he’s on the opposite team you get killed alot.
Then there’s TS which is a big distraction. Once you remove TS and the chat that goes on then you become more focused on the game esp on a server you don’t know.
Also if you were playing on a 64 player server then the ticket count is higher and you are more likely to kill more people in a round – the main reason why those after badges go onto big servers.
And I suppose we are all L11TB too ๐
Mate, this has always been the case, since 42 days. You must remember that most of the peeps on our server play reguarly, hence the standard of play is high.
On public server, you get a lot of noobs & kids. There is also less teamwork, so easier to rack up kills. On the XDC box there is often one or two good squads, that makes life hard in the kills department.
I think it’s also down to the team balance as well. It’s rare for XDC to have an evening where there’s lots of baseraping and one-sided teamplay compared to other servers. How many times has someone said “teams” over TS and half of the XDC’ers have swapped sides?
I also think we tend to play at a certain level of decency too. I personally hate baserapers. One server I played on in BF2 had a couple of snipers and a support guy running around and dropping claymores around the spawn points at the Karki Hotel, with no attempts to grab the flag. They were clearly stat-padding, but were allowed to continue playing.
Anyway, it’s always best to keep it real with some quality gaming on the XDC server along with all our L11TB players.
The thing I always say to anyone who wants to join on the server outside XDC is play hard and play fair – if your used to going on pub servers to rackup easy kills you will get your arse firmly handed to you on a plate on the XDC Server.
Some of the CoUK guys sometimes wander in occasionally and I always find it funny looking at their forums are reading that they thought they weren’t too bad a player until the had a few rounds on XDC and got completely battered. Playing on the XDC can be a very steep learning curve in order to survive and compete with organised squads.
XDC have been playing BF in various guises since 42 and I found their server from around NAM when I wasn’t playing DC Final on the Multiplayers server.
I think the general rule for the XDC server is fair play, fun and teamwork within the spirit of the game with the obvious exception of Max because he is a farkin haxxor ๐

Walkers will be EMP’d and nuked.
Snipers will be hunted down and knifed.
Spawn becons will be located and popped.
One squad will make it to you back flag and put you in a world of pain.
Once your Titans shield is breached you better have defence already in place.
You will be AMP’d at least once a round by Tooth/Messy
And Max will wipe out your entire squad with half a clip from his auto-aiming Vos ๐
coming back to the original post, Neon has a good point though.
Back in the days when 1st-BW had their own server we alternated between that one and the oneS from the Rats, CoUK, 1stHussars and similar clan-servers. With the odd excpetion we were usually roughly at the same level.
This started changing when BW went tits up and we started playing the XDC server. I can safely say this was a BIG sobering experience in the beginning, we felt like friggin n00bs ( I know: I am still one).
Long story short, the level on our (XDC-) server is definItely higher than average, the biggest differences though are:
more accurate shooting (with or without hacks 8) )
more creative use of things like apm’s, defibs, ex-packs etcand
IT’S ALWAYS FUN
Yeah agreed.
I mean 2142 is a hellva lot more team focused that previous versions. I think this was why I was so p*ssed when I had to find a new server to play on because time has to be spent introducing yourself and getting to know the regulars. Tis a laff on the XDC server and I find that I hardly ever bob on other ones unless I’m only on for a bit and XDC is full.

You’re forgetting my ‘G7 Mouse – Cheating?’ ๐ Haha yeah that’s probably one of the reasons you guys aren’t too up your own asses. I think this is the first clan I’ve found that don’t do the match thing or meetings on a certain day of the wk. Seems to work well.
