Joined upto zen and now have a upto 8mb connection with them.

Yet all i am getting is:

    Date 25/03/07 16:38:50
    Speed Down 239.16 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
    Speed Up 378.29 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps ) about what i’d expect.

The uploads faster then the download fs!

I’ve tried a couple of other tests with the same results, and downloading files top out at around 30k a second so i recon the tests are correct. Any ideas?

Brandnew NetGear DG834 router which is registering the link as
    DownStream Connection Speed 7616 kbps
    UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps

XP sp2 lastest updates + drivers

(another strange thing, niether my old internal modem or router will connect at all)

It’s upto, meaning you probably won’t get 8mb but there is a sod all chance you will get lucky 😆 Zen’s head office is about a mile or 2 down the road – if you don’t get anywhere with them consider it burned to the ground 😈 Saying that though I’ve seen that happen ona machine in the area but on Tiscali – ona Netgear router it would conenct just fine at full speed but actual performance was shite, but when using the original sagem modem they had no problems whatsoever. Not much ever happened resolving the problem as after numerous hours on the phone to indian support people who couldn’t even support someone out of a closet and trying several other ideas in the end we agreed to fuck it and give up and go back to the modem + ICS.

could it be the 10 day running in period ? BT do an update every 3 days to adjust your IP rating, they forgot to do mine so i went 10 days without moving off my 2Mb service, once i put the complaint in it eventually went up to 6.8Mb but it does drop to between 2.5mb and 4mb at certain times.

Bear in mind that all new connections take a few days to get optimised, if it’s the same after a week, start kicking off.

    try this link……….

    http://speedtester.bt.com/

BT’s speed test service, it will show you what your IP profile is set to at the exchange……….give it the 10 day settling in period then if no change get in touch with your isp to submit a stuck profile ticket with BT.

    zen threads on http://www.thinkbroadband.com site..

may find some useful info in there.

Yes i know, but 0.2mb download…..and the uploads faster?

I’d be quite happy with the 4mb i got at my last place and i can see the exchange up the road.

Thankyou, I didn’t realise that, certainly dont remember it from last time on f2s Max.
You may have stopped an embarassing call to zen tommorow. Its been a frustrating few days playing with settings/drivers with no improvment in speeds but then i guess BT dont like working weekends.

    Ta chaps

(edit, yup ip profile is set to 250kbps, guess i’ll have to wait for it to be upped before the goat porn downloads begin, meh)

IP profile for your line is – 6500 kbps
    DSL connection rate:
    448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
    7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)

Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was – 5919 kbps

kekeke, let the pRon downloading begin

thats looking more like it……your IP profile is liable to change from time to time as will your speed but thats not a bad rate to be set at.
