    Congrats Doc.

Only the wedding speech to worry about now!

PS: I got married on May 1st, and so my speech included something along the lines of the date being appropriate as Mayday is the international signal of distress. Well, most people laughed – but the bird in white didn’t 😉

Woke me & the missus up, and my 4 year old too.

But the funny thing was it set off my son’s noise & vibration sensitive dancing Pingu the penguin….. Nark Nark!!

PS: Definitely his best present from Santa – the bloody thing’s hilarious. We think Reece likes it too…

Wasn’t there a thread somewhere that said use of the pound sterling symbol caused this?

Anyway, hit “back” if you do get the error – FF/IE should have cached the page and you won’t have lost your typing. Then just find the offending symbol & replace with “quid”.

Makes me laugh, though – everyone calls Microsoft for having crap software, and then you get bone stupid bugs like this in Linux & PHP apps…..

You could always give Dataflame a go. I guess they are like 1and1, and provide a hosting service. But you also get a load of freebies that are easy to install and give a wide variety of choices for website authoring – everything from vanilla HTML through full content management system. There’s no significant bandwidth limits.

I’ve used them for a few years, and (famous last words) they’ve been pretty good.

Why would I want something for the kitchen? That’s where I keep the wife 🙂

Thanks for all the input guys.

After lots and lots of research I finally chose a Panasonic 32″ LCD with 100Hz refresh. Cost 600 quid – saved a couple of hundred over RRP. Should take delivery of it early next week.

Hah! Thats what they want you to think! You are still being exposed to advertisers drivel… and no doubt spending more time watching the vacuous nonsense in between the sales pitches than is good for you.

That’s exactly why I watch everything on Sky+. I simply skip over the adverts. If a program starts at 8pm, I often deliberately don’t start watching it for about 10 minutes simply so I can skip the ads.

Im not immune… I have just watched the whole of desperate houswives through a boxed set the GF got for her birthday. Even though I felt dirty and stupid watching it I could feel myself being sucked in.

Well your’re forgiven, simply due to the totty value of DH. 😉

I actually watch very little TV, and bugger all “trash”. Reality TV is something I hate with a vengeance. Can’t be arsed with any of the soaps.

But CBeebies is a sanity saver of you’ve got kids.

    Oh me of little faith….

Decided to download FH2 and give it a try as I had a day off. Very impressed – hopefully will be able to play a bit more over the next few days.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Looks like there is no clear winner in the plasma vs LCD debate, which seems to say to me that it is largely irrelevent – if they are that close then it really does not enter into the equation.

I’ll keep reading the links you’ve posted and see if it sheds any light on good manufacturers and models.

Unfortunately I think I have to keep the wife – alimony would mean I would not be able to afford a new telly anyway, so I’ll put up with the ball & chain for a bit longer yet! (Only kidding, dear, if you’re reading this 🙂 )

…but don’t have the mind numbing soul sucking despair of handing my life over to the people in control.

I have Sky+, and so don’t have this problem. Watch what I want, when I want.

    – “Long Way Down” book. Half way through already.
    – CD: “Modern Times” by Latin Quarter – one of my favourite albums from my youth. Got it on vinyl, but it’s not mainstream enough to be in many shops on CD so was quite chuffed.
    – Whisky
    – Port
    – DVD: Star Wars 3
    – DVD: Babylon 5: In the Beginning – cracking film
    – Various odds & sods

No hankies or underpants, thank God.

Long and the short of it – nothing to compete for the coveted Coolest Prezzy Prize.
