Check what your ISP does during peak times.
I dropped Tiscali because they used to throttle bandwidth in peak times – typically between 7& 11 at night, although it used to vary.
Outside of these times I would get a ping of 30ms pretty reliably and a good download speed. But during peak times this would go to nearly 200ms and rubbish speeds.
It was a concious policy by the ISP.
Late last night on our server there was some really good Titan defense from both teams. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The annoying thing was that after what seemed like an age both defending and attacking in a close game, I crashed out just before the finish and don’t know if my team won or not 🙁
I wish I had thought through the unlocks better. I should have concentrated on fully loading each role I think, rather than got a couple in each. I *really* want that big fuck-off anti-tank gun that Toothy shot me with a couple of days ago.
Finally got around to watching the first two episodes. I rather like it – not fantastic, but it’s always going to be tricky to set the scene and build the characters early on.
I’ll keep watching for the moment.

I don’t care if you are on a bike or in a car, stupid speeds in the wrong place is moronic.

Yeah – the only upside to 2142 crashes is that the levels are way quicker to load than in BF2. But that’s like the Good News/Bad News joke about the bloke that wakes up in hospital to find his legs have been amputated – the chap in the next bed wants to buy his slippers.
But I have to say the crashes are seriously pissing me off now. I jumped in for a game earlier this evening, was doing well, and teh after 20 minutes a complete computer crash. I lost the will to even attempt a rejoin.
I may go and find a BF2 server to grab my gametime. RO is out as I can’t be arsed to learn a new game. That, and I couldn’t take the shame 😉
BF problem I think. I get PC hangs as well as CTD’s with 2142 – fine with other games.
It is a pile of buggy crap.
Did anyone point out to the guy & his mate that EA would not give a flying fuck about them them being kicked?

When you run that you get a text message overlayed on your game screen saying who is talking. Works fine with both BF2 & BF2142.
