It’ll play fine. Bootcamp your system, and keep the Windows end as lean as you can. All mine has installed is Steam and Firefox (to download drivers etc.) Run SMC Fan Control from the OSX side, and your ofski. Can be a bit of a pain at first getting all the drivers together. Oh! and get a wired keyboard and a decent mouse, the Apple one’s are no use for gaming. You’ll hate having to look and operate the ugly clunky Windows 7 OS after using OSX for a while, but it’s only for gaming.
I am much more qualified to give an opinion on Apple products as I use them every day at work and at home… likewise, if someone asks an opinion on a Widows/Android system I am completely uninformed.
You don’t assume I have a pro-Apple stance?? Yea right.. I actually don’t. And, as I have said on many occasions, if I had different needs/wants I would use whatever product suited.

When did I ever say you were lying? On my iphone and ipad 2 I can stream youtube and have never ever had a video not play, maybe your mates ipad needs a software update.. why the fuck would I lie about this?? On the videos I have posted I can watch them with no problem, and I have never had to select an option for mobile devices.
I have no beef with Flash, except when it comes to mobile devices. There are better and more efficient ways to deliver media, and there are issues when developing flash for both the large format and mobile market. (And yes, thats a qualified opinion)
Why would you doubt I’ll read your post? Interested to hear why you’d say that. AND if I did, why on earth would I want you to “address my flash issues” I have a team of people at work who as developers are a bit more qualified than you to give me advice.
However, I’m sure with your vast experience of playing with your mates iPad, and all the very well respected blogs and internet articles you read, I am misjudging your expertise, and for that I am humbly sorry..

I never said it was an attack on Apple, and if you read my comments I actually advise that Sprog looks at the Motorola product, and I’m not even going to go into the other points you now raised, as it’s getting pretty boring.

I gave my opinion on tablets, like you I weighed the pro’s and cons of the device, but ultimately everyone has different needs. So, no they are not a “waste of money” if you require the function and form of a tablet.
And one final thing. You seem to think that I have some pro-Apple stance, that is not the case, merely a preference due to my daily use and work, and if someone asks my opinion on a certain Apple product I am far more qualified than you to do so. You for some reason seem to get pleasure out of this anti-apple thing, which I just don’t get. I couldn’t care less on your opinion on the products that I choose to work with. I have never sent you a link to a pro-Apple article, unlike the pish you bombard me with every time I log on. I’m beyond humouring you with this, so give it a rest, discuss the evil empire that is Apple with someone who gives a shit.
Sprog, Go to a phone shop, play about with a few devices, if you like what you see and the form of a tablet appeals to you, decide on which one suits your needs and budget.

Please ignore Paddy, he has a vendetta against Apple because they have now banned all gingers from the Apple Store. His arguments are also factually incorrect. If you really want a tablet device also check out the Motorola XZoom.
But to answer your questions :
If your not taking your tablet outside the house and have a wireless network then you don’t need the 3G version (which also requires a data plan from one of the mobile phone companies).
I personally have no need for a tablet device, but I suppose its a light “pick up and use” internet capable device. You can sit on the sofa and browse the net, watch video, etc.. plus the games which may or may not be your cup of tea.
From the different ones I have seen, apple has the edge in terms of lightness, design, and I feel the best OS of the lot. However, if you’re not bothered about any of that and just want a cheap machine, there are loads out there now that run Android. It’s slowly catching up in terms of app content to Apple, but is still some way behind.
To answer Paddy’s points – Flash is no longer something that is needed on mobile devices for a number of reasons, and YES you can (without an external app) watch BBC iplayer, YouTube, etc.. / THe app store works fine for me and the millions of others out there / It’s not far off in terms of price than the Motorola,which is more or less the same spec, although the xzoom is pug ugly, thick, heavy etc.. no apple care available either (which is a big plus!!)
ALL mobile devices will need an impedance converter for a guitar, and how the fuck else would you get a 1/4″ jack into a 1/8″ input? a Gender bender?? Autocorrect? turn it off and learn to spell. blah blah fuckin blah.. 🙄
