Happy birthday Lammie!

ParticipantThis is based on a graphic novel that was very popular. I’d take the wife to see it, but she’d go menatl halfway through. 😕
The the shaky cam thing is supremely annoying though. I don’t mind a bit of wobble, but half the time it’s like the person is going out of their way to shake the camera.

ParticipantPageant Official: Just what on earth do you think your daughter is doing?
Richard: She’s kicking ass, that’s what she’s doing!

ParticipantSounds cool. Didn’t they make this into a TV servies back in the 80’s? I remember it had a black and white cat in in called Jess, and the bloke who starred in it seemed very apathetic.
As for using it as a reason to dump you? Pah! Women! Mine still thinks I’m a doctor at St Thomas’s hospital, and I was doing a pretty convincing job of it just watching ER and telling her what George Clooney (me) had been up to that week. Trouble is he’s left the show now and I’m having to make stuff up.
Last week I told I’d performed a ‘mumectomy’, a delicate operation whereby you remove a baby from it’s mother. The wife points out that it’s actually called ‘delivering a baby’ (or something), so I said this was different because the baby was born last week but climbed into the mother’s bra and refused to come out (quick thinking eh?)
So I’ll check out Post Office by Buchowski, but in the meantime could Doc give me some proper medical words to use as the wife’s becoming suspicious about some of headectomies and arse transplants I did last week.

ParticipantHellgate: London is based on first hand accounts of the Victoria line between Pimlico and Brixton.

ParticipantYeah. And I’ll bet Cleopatra’s bra doesn’t ping off either.

ParticipantSo BioShock was based around Ayn Rand’s philosophies? I might have to check it out.
But back to the anti piracy stuff:
Whenever I put on my season six Simpsons DVD I have to sit through that “You wouldn’t steal a car. You wouldn’t rob a bank. You wouldn’t hijack a plane” anti-piracy advert. I can’t skip it so I have to watch some OTT piece of propoganda BEFORE I can watch my legally purchased DVD. How many people who downloaded the Simpsons have to sit through that shit?
Oh and before anyone even thinks about illegally downloading movies or TV shows, remember that piracy is a crime and can be used to somehow fund terrorists or drug dealers.
Thank you. Now enjoy the film…

ParticipantWoah. Hang on a mo’. If Ceasar’s dead, who’s the clown making all those salads? Methinks it’s time for a lawsuit…
Con Igulden and his brother also wrote ‘The Dangerous Book for Boys’, which feminists complained about. That’s all the reason I need to buy a copy.

ParticipantI think a better choice of song would have been ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’. If anybody got too close I think it could quite easily be a ‘Tradgedy’.

ParticipantSOIA’s right that it’s pretty obvious from the beginning that Robert Neville’s (the protagonist) not really going to have much hope as the last man on earth. Although if one could choose the manner of his own death how many of us would choose to set ourselves alight and then jump into the fuel-filled belly of a supertanker? I mean, pretty fucking spectacular, but I bet it hurt.
So it’s no surprise that the hero’s going to die, but the twist about the undersea vampire kingdom was pretty cool.
As Neo might say.
“Woah.”

ParticipantWell, any organisation that has a couple of wankers like Vic and myself as members must be awesome!
XDCNeonSamurai
ParticipantHooray! I’ve just celebrated by having a wank!*
* No. Not really, although I might go and celebrate finding the website http://www.meloniesmellons.com

ParticipantThe book’s very good. Bit of classic scifi literature (Doc, SOIA check it out), and the script I read on the internet a few years back was pretty good (although not much like the book).
I’ll go watch it, but I’m sure the wife’ll freak out and go mental and start shouting advice to Mr Smith, somehow thinking he will hear her.
