just on the matter of ventrilo, when I use Ventrilo Bf seems to lag more than usual.
I have checked the usual settings like the sound quality etc etc anyone else having this issue?

I did a little experimenting after you left the server last night and tried playing on the XDC server without running Ventrilo. It was slightly better (not much) but it was less laggy without it running. But I still played crap. I guess there must have been lots of people online on Sunday night using Tiscali, although Ventrilo didn’t help matters.

The only advantage of Vent is that I can have myself anounced as “wanker” when I enter a room. Apart from that I would rather go back to TS!

Wolf, for a small fee I would happy to anounce you as ‘Wanker’ whenever you enter a room. Drop me a pm and we’ll discuss payment options.

Fortunatly I will be in civilised Uganda, not pikey Cheltenham, so that should not happen!

Uganda? Civilised? I don’t know what they teach you young ‘uns in university these days, but here’s a few sample news stories today in Uganda’s papers (c/o BBC):

Ugandan Man Marries Self. Gets arrested
In a bizarre turn of events a schizophrenic Ugandan man yesterday managed to marry himself. However, during his honeymoon he rang the local authorities to report that he had sexually abused himself against his will. After a night in the cells he announced that he would be getting a divorce as he’d ‘drifted appart’.

    Goat Voted in as President
After a predictable landslide victory Henry the goat was voted in as the president of Uganda. Ignoring all questions from reporters Henry declared he was going to a bar, and then had the rest of his cabinet barred from the establishment, prior to insisting on a delivery of 3000 chocolate bars. He’s has since inferred that he will be raising the bar for Ugandan politics.

Police Warn that Lumbering White Peeping Tom Arrival Imminent
Ugandan Special Weapons Teams are preparing themselves for a visit by an overseas peeping Tom who uses Uganda to get his cheap kicks by filming or photographing the locals. “If I see him I kill him many times nice” said the interpreter who we’d been advised not to use.

When you are in Uganda and a man with a ropey looking AK47 tells you to give him the camera, fix him with a steely stare and growl “you’re gonna have to kill me first you dumbass.” In my experience with bandits and ‘freedom fighters’ they are all cowards at heart and this will cause them to run away. Guarenteed.

If you’re travelling to another country to make a movie, then you’ll need to do a storyboard before you go, and tick it off as you film. Don’t do lots of shots where you pan the camera and try to keep it as static as possible. This makes things much easier in the edditing stages as camera movement normally screws things up. Also when you want to stop recording something count to 3, before doing so. This again means that the footage is easier to edit rather than you stopping it too early.

All shots need to be setup. Don’t jump from shot to shot. For example, if you are filming people in a village, get a wide shot of the place or of you pulling up in the truck before you start talking to people. That way the viewers will know that you have arrived at a village rather than thinking ‘where did these people come from’?

Yeah, but as always Robert Downey Jr gives a superb performance. I thought most of the film was too unstructured, and meandered here and there, without really concentrating on what was actually happening.

However, any scene with Downey it it was ace.

watched the 1st one last night – bit slow to get going – does it get better?

It does. First one was a bit of a let down, but they were just laying the ground rules and setting up the characters. By the end of the third one, it’s stepped up a gear and getting better. Definately stick with it for another couple of episodes.

    Good luck out there Mouse101.

I’m afraid my advice pales in comparrisson to WET’s, but when you have to attack Karkland, try and drive a jeep or an APC down to far left hand side and cap the suburbs flag, before heading down to the train wreck. And if you and your unit have to defend Shaarqi Peninsular, remember to guard the TV station as that’s what the Iraqi forces will try to capture first (if they’ve got any sense).

Hope that comes in handy, and keep yer head down.

Damnit! I wish I had the money to upgrade my PC. I’ve been looking forward to this game for ages (well since I first played OFP back in 2002), but I want to do it justice by playing it on a decent rig.

I’m an anti aliasing slut, so I don’t want to play it on my 6600 256mb.

Saw episode 3 last night (managed to miss episode 2 somehow 😕 )

Anyway, the show is indeed starting to grow on me and I’m starting to like some of the other characters. Hiro and his sidekick are cool and I like that telepathic cop. And am I right in thinking that the single mum found the body of one of the guys she killed when she went berserk in the back of her car, or is it some other guy?

Although my complaint this week is that the writers went too far and not only removed the cheerleaders clothes, but most of her chest too! When will they learn?

    Remove clothes = Yes

    Expose ribcage = No

Hey Max, how you getting on with that Walking Dead graphic novel? Apparently another good zombie book to be checking out is World War Z, but I haven’t read it yet.

Here’s the Ulysses 31 intro performed by some grown men who should know better, and I think they got their mum to be the computer.

    Johnny you are a GENIUS.

It’s tuneful and I kinda like the bontempi effect.

Although I am supremely impressed that you managed to get Stephen Hawking to sing it!

    Hat’s off to you sir!
