Is it in any way shape or form like BC2?
Is it anything like bf42/bf2?
Yes on both counts Nom, but so far what I’ve seen carried over from BC2 has been a general improvement. I’ve been debating whether you would like it all day because it does feel much more like a classic BF game than BC2 did but there are also still elements about it I don’t think you like. Could you remind me though what you thought about BF2 when it was out, and maybe what it was about bf42 that you’re actually looking for out of a game?
I didn’t quite catch you this evening on how this went for you when you did eventually get on the server. Any improvement?
Oh and see what happens when you finally say something positive about Newcastle 😉

Sorry I had forgotten to update this thread viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5448&p=64956#p64956 when we were given a new port for the ts server recently. It’s correct now.

Just to clarify, again, the settings above are the default settings, and probably what we were playing last night. There is no need to apologise to me about a disagreement, they are up for discussion. The question I wanted clarified is the one you describe.
Apart from a general bias against hardcore, from other games, my only view regarding settings is try the default first before deciding what might improve the game.
Just as a quick follow up, I asked Gonzo and the match server thing has become impossible for them to implement as EA have not given anyone the ability to run an unranked server yet, and they don’t think this will be released anytime soon. They have however reduced the price of normal servers though since this revelation.
In other news, Gonzo’s emailed the main man to bump our server request up the queue, and we could quite possibly have access to it before the night’s out.
OK server rented. We missed out on the free match server thing but I’ll have a word with Gonzo. Total price was £122 and a few pennies over 6 months. So that’s £20.33 monthly. The TS server has already been rented via multiplay, so no voice comms were taken up through rackage. Server should be online tomorrow, and I’ll provide the details for that once I have them. Be patient though as I’m at work until 6.
One thing I’ve been trying to figure out is the best way to manage donations towards this as I’m not exactly a fan of paypal charges, but that may be the best way for now. Anyone else got a better suggestion?

I’ve no doubt SSD’s give a boost, but I don’t need it. Back in the day playing bf1942 I could roll and smoke a joint during the startup, and if that was the case now then fair enough, but these days I can’t even finish a piss in the time it takes to load a game. I’m in before the startup timer has finished, and that’s all that matters.
The plan was to fork out for it over the weekend, but I forgot to take into account Sod’s Law. I had fraud on my bank account, my card was cancelled, and I decided against putting the payment on a credit card in the meantime. I have however received my replacement debit card today, so stay tuned for more on this later tonight.
