Cool, as ever the timing’s bad when I’m in rally the troops mode as I have to go home for Christmas. Might get a game over at my brothers at some point, but otherwise I’ll see you from Sunday week onwards.

What was the problem getting online on the PC?
Line’s shown some interest in IRC, but after my first impression, it’ll take a lot of motivation to try it out again. Probably still will mind you, but BC2 and vietnam are obviously much better options.

If you’re about over the next week, both myself and Paddy are away, but try and get Doc, Stalker, Spacey, Viper, Milo, and Badger on your friends list as they’re all playing the game pretty regularly. Turks was on last night as well, and Queeks has just got himself a new PC and the game yesterday so you may see them about too. I’ll be back on Sunday week, so don’t go burning yourself out in the meantime 🙂

Aye that must’ve been after Paddy and me moved across to the rats. The last week has been pretty good in TS though, with us peaking at around 7 or 8 people one night. That’s likely to die down over Christmas as Paddy and me will both be away and few others can be arsed waiting for folks to pop on. That could change though with a bit of patience and regular contact between XDC.
Oh and you must be surfing a lot of Turkey porn, because your PC problems are incredible. BC2 does crash to desktop sometimes for me, but nowhere near that frequently.
Good games last night mind you, just a shame I had to drop out at short notice, and that so many people like hardcore (my new pet hate).
Do you mean it shows on your games list as “unidentified” or does it show as “BFBC2.exe”? I suppose the most important thing is what it shows when you launch the game through Steam though, as this is what the rest of us will see when browsing friends list. If I see you simply “playing non steam game” I’ll at least know it’s most likely BC2, and can message you to see where you are. If you receive a message from steam while in game, it should pop up in the bottom right hand corner, and you can reply by hitting shift tab.

Actually it’s pretty good on the PC, alot better than any previous game expansions I’ve seen from EA.
Looks like it was only on part of the day. Game’s still on offer atm at £15 but obviously not as good as earlier.
Looks like steam are doing this every day this week, for a variety of games, so may be worth keeping an eye on it for some other bargains.
I think what you’re describing is what happens when you don’t follow Andy’s instructions to open the link in a new window. If you open the link from within a frame, it’ll open the chat page within that frame, leaving the original chat in it’s original frame, and you’ll end up with a chat frame and forum frame within what should only be a forum frame. This doesn’t cause a problem if you don’t follow the instruction initially, since we’ve essentially got one frame operating as default on the forums, but when you open it twice or more, like a muppet, you’ll have trouble.
Oh and you can’t close the chat frame while on the test chat page.
On our shitty monitors in work, it also displays in the bottom corner, like in Line’s screenshot. Not sure how many others would be in the same boat, but it’s certainly a problem without a widescreen setup.
Minecraft Beta: December 20, 2010
The next epoch is upon us! The skies are trembling, pigs are growing wings, and the nether is turning awfully cold, as Minecraft slowly crawls out of Alpha..Minecraft will reach Beta status on December 20th, 2010.
With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there. We’ll also add some kind of non-intrusive narrative to the game to help drive the game experience early on, and to provide some kind of late game goal. There will be a bigger focus on testing and stability as well, with more time between updates.
When the game enters beta, the price will rise to 14.95 Euro.
We will also change the license to remove the line that promises all future versions of the game for free. Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise.
Buying the game during beta will include all updates up until release, of course, and bug patches will be free.Soon, you will be able to buy gift codes for Minecraft, perfectly timed for the holidays! Even better, if you buy those before December 20, accounts created from these codes will count as alpha accounts, and will receive all future updates for free.
And the next game update (with server-side inventory) is coming next week, before Beta

hmm ok it’s a beta, but it’s pretty crap. They’ve taken BF2, tried to combine it with some elements of BC2, and come up with something ridiculously sluggish, and I don’t know what the fuck they’ve done with the control system. Going to perservere with it since Line said he’s got it installed now as well, but not looking too promising so far.
